"I got in!!!!"
Beatrice called the group chat, though she did not expect that all of them were available and would answer. But they all did. And she could not hide the happiness in her eyes as she spoke about the fact that she got into Echelon Dominion.
"Congratulations," Shawn said.
"I knew you could do it," Kathrine said.
"I guess being your number one fan will be worth it," Kenneth joked.
"Congratulations," Gabriel said.
"That is amazing. Congrats," Justin said.
"You did it," Harmony said.
All five said these at the same time and happiness welled up in Beatrice's heart. Despite the short time they spent together, she was happy that she had them as her friends right now. Despite the difficulty of her life at the moment, she would be fine. Because she knew she had their unconditional support.
"And when would that be?" Kathrine asked her.
"It is on the third week of December, December 18, before the winter break."
They nodded their heads.
"Good luck with that," Shawn encouraged.
"Good luck, you will be able to do it," Kenneth even pumped his fists.
"Fighting," Justin cheered.
"Good luck," Gabriel even smiled slightly.
"You can do it, Beatrice Falcon," as always, Harmony's words had a different encouragement to them.
Beatrice smiled, "I will surely make it successful."
They all chatted for a bit, speaking of one another's daily life before ending the call after an hour. Just as she put down her phone, she received another call from Kathrine.
"What happened?" Kathrine asked worriedly.
Beatrice blinked before smiling in defeat. Obviously, Kathrine would notice.
"I was disowned," she said with a sigh.
"Then-"
"I am getting by through scholarships and part-time jobs. But to be honest, I feel freer right now," she interrupted Kathrine, explaining her current situation.
"Why did you not tell me?" Kathrine looked hurt.
"I am sorry. It is not that I did not want to tell you. But I am seriously enjoying my current life. It is difficult but it is fun. And I get to focus more on myself. On what I can do and what I can still do."
She had on a contented smile that Kathrine could only sigh in defeat. This was the most content she had seen Beatrice.
"How do you plan to continue then? I noticed you were not in your apartment and you looked thinner. That is why I realized something was wrong. And going forward, expenses will increase."
She could not offer support because she was also a student, and even though they were rich, she knew Beatrice would not wish to accept money from her parents. If it was her own money, then Kathrine would have lent it to her without second thoughts.
"I am still thinking about that. Apartments are much more expensive than dorms. I am just lucky my roommate is nice. She said she is not a light sleeper. As long as I am careful, I will not disturb her even if I always come back late."
Kathrine nodded her head. In a sense, Beatrice was still lucky. If her roommate was not that kind, then she would have more trouble than peace.
"I am eating just fine. But I was busy, so I became thinner. Do not think I became thinner because I have nothing to eat," Beatrice then added.
"Can I help even just a little with that?" Kathrine asked her almost pleadingly.
Beatrice knew she was genuinely worried.
"Hmmm, then you can send me some food allowance," she relented.
Because she knew Kathrine would only keep on worrying if she did not let her help. And she would have done the same if Kathrine was in the same condition as her.
"How about being sponsored?"
"I have thought of that as well. But I will think about that once I do get one. Though if I get one from here, I will surely stay here a bit longer after graduating," Beatrice shrugged.
"I think that is fine. Make a name for yourself over there and then come back as a big star," Kathrine encouraged her.
Beatrice laughed, "I think that is indeed a good idea. By then my mother will not be able to touch me anymore."
Kathrine's smile dropped, "She disowned you because you were kicked out of that group. She will not suddenly call for you once she finds out that you are in the top group now, right?"
Beatrice shook her head, "Since I am no longer someone who can entertain them, they will stop paying attention to me."
Kathrine then grinned, "They will surely regret everything."
Beatrice laughed, "Stop that. I clung onto them all this time."
Kathrine wiggled her finger with a grin, tutting playfully, "Tut tut tut tut, twenty-one is the legal age in our country. That is when we can be completely independent of our parents. The only reason you had to cling onto them despite realizing that you were nothing but entertainment to them-"
"Hey, that still hurts," Beatrice instantly complained, causing Kathrine to laugh.
"Anyway, it is because you knew you were not yet of age. And how old are we all now? Nineteen. In another two years, you will not have to worry about them suddenly taking you back because you became famous."
Beatrice nodded her head, "Indeed. I will still be here by then and once I return and she realizes that I am of use, she will not be able to do anything anymore."
Kathrine nodded her head, "That is why. Make a name for yourself there."
"I will surely do."
Just as the call ended, Kathrine received a message from Kenneth.
'Date and time of departure: December 17, XXXX, 12 noon. It will be a twenty-four-hour flight and we will be there at midnight New York time on December 18. Be prepared, guys. It will also be a five-day stay. Our return flight is on December 23, 6 in the evening, New York time.'
Since Country X is 12 hours ahead of New York, their arrival would be at midnight, marking the beginning of December 18 in New York.
Meaning they can still sleep before Beatrice's performance.
She was agape, but thinking about it, they were all on holiday at that time. It was what they talked about a while ago. But for Kenneth to be this decisive.
'It is the first big performance of our group's best actress. We must not miss it. And it is great as a surprise for our hard working friend. We can even spend time together for a good few days since it would be her break as well.'
Was what the following message said.
She shook her head. It seemed she and Beatrice had seriously found some good friends.
'Good friends that seriously had the money,' she chuckled at her own thought.
It seemed her good friend would have a pleasant surprise.
