Kalyani was poisoned (2)

Chapter : 6 ; Kalyani was poisoned.

No… no… I can't go on like this. I have to make sure no one knows she was killed by us. But before that, I need to get rid of this bastard's body.

Countless thoughts raced through Zakir's mind. Without wasting time, he quickly ordered a few of his men to bury Saddam's body far away. If left out in the open, the scent of blood would attract carnivorous animals, causing unnecessary chaos something he desperately wanted to avoid.

However, just as Saddam's body was about to be buried, Zakir suddenly shouted for them to stop. He had a nagging feeling that if the body contained poison, he would need the antidote he had placed in his dagger. After all, if he accidentally cut himself, he would need it.

There was also something else he knew: although Ahmad was a cruel and intelligent man, he was also deeply lustful. He couldn't control himself when it came to beautiful women. Whenever he saw or heard about one, he had to have her, especially if she was weaker or lower in strength than him.

Zakir also understood that while these men were loyal to him, once Ahmad began questioning them, they would spill everything. He needed to find the antidote and hope that Kalyani, that bitch, would survive until they arrived.

With this in mind, Zakir ordered his men to thoroughly search Saddam's body, including his clothes, for any type of medicine or liquid in a bottle.

Soon, a few of his men checked Saddam's body and found four items: the poisoned dagger, the poison itself, a liquid that was the real antidote, and a vial hanging around his neck. The vial contained instant poison, designed to kill someone in minutes, with no antidote. It was meant for spies or assassins, who, if caught, would use it to kill themselves before being tortured.

Zakir quickly took the antidote and finally ordered his men to bury Saddam's body.

Where Kalyani was staying.

Maan Singh and Vikram looked at the crowd of royal doctors, three of them (vaddya/vaddye in Hindi), and asked, "Can anyone help?"

Kalyani was pale, her hope dwindling. Maan Singh and Vikram had both refused to agree to amputate her arm, even though it seemed necessary. What Kalyani didn't know was that her physical abilities had reached extraordinary levels. At just 21, her strength was not only greater than normal humans, but her healing powers were five times stronger than average. But she didn't realize how much power she truly had.

Even without amputating her arm, she could survive for more than three days, even if she closed her eyes.

There was an old belief that if someone was poisoned, they should try to keep their eyes open. It helped, both mentally and physically, to encourage the body to create its own antidote. The human body had evolved to a point where it could heal itself, even without external help.

It was all about Kalyani's willpower.

"Can anyone cure the queen?" Vikram asked, looking at the doctors.

"Sire... looking at the queen's condition, I have no solution. I'm sorry, but I can't cure it," an elderly woman in her forties said, shaking her head.

"You...?" Maan Singh turned to the other two doctors, but they also shook their heads in disappointment.

Then, a man in his thirties raised his hand.

"Sir... although I'm not confident, I believe it depends on the blessings of the gods. It's up to what the poison has done to her body," Bhanu Raj said.

Maan Singh looked at him strangely, but something about him felt different. He couldn't place why, but since there was no other choice, he agreed.

"Okay... I need the following: neem, turmeric, snake root (Rauvolfia serpentina), guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), and honey."

(In the bracket all of them have scientific name of the herbs.)

As Bhanu Raj mentioned the herbs, the faces of the other doctors, Maan Singh, and Vikram all turned strange.

"Do we really have these herbs and honey?" Vikram asked, looking at the others.

"Well, sir, I've seen a neem tree just a few hundred meters away from here, and snake root can be found in the jungle. The Vindhya Range forest is one of the biggest producers of snake root used in detoxification. We also have turmeric and ashwagandha," one of the doctors, who had earlier disagreed, responded.

"I have guduchi," the elderly woman said.

"Alright. What we need is honey, snake root, and neem, none of these are difficult to find, but we need them quickly," Vikram analyzed.

"First, gather all the medicinal herbs, and then we'll set off," Vikram continued.

"Yes, sir!" the two doctors nodded and left.

Ten minutes later, the two men returned with the herbs.

"You doctor, come with me. Vikram, take a guard, and go look for the honey. I'll go with this man to find the snake root and neem. Sister doctor, you stay with him to look after the queen," Maan Singh ordered.

"Hmmm…" Vikram nodded and then left with Bhanu and the doctor.

Maan Singh also left with the other man.

After they had left, Bhanu Raj was busy preparing the medicinal paste using the utensils they had brought. Suddenly, he turned to the woman doctor.

"Sister Ankita, I forgot to mention two very important herbs that can be found in this region," he said, slapping his forehead as if he'd just remembered.

"What herbs?" Ankita asked.

"Sister Ankita, they are bhringraj (Eclipta alba) and chirata (Swertia chirata). I hope you go with the guards, as I am busy preparing the medicinal paste for the queen."

"And in the entire camp, you are the only one who can find these two herbs."

This caught Ankita off guard for a moment, but she quickly nodded. In the camp, only three people could recognize Ayurvedic herbs, one had gone, one was preparing the paste, and she was the only one left, free and most suitable for the task.

Without thinking too much, she hurried off to find the herbs.

As soon as she left, a wicked smile curled on Bhanu's face. He felt like he had just achieved something. His eyes then fell on Kalyani's vulnerable form. His mind wandered, filled with lustful thoughts. Bhanu had always harbored desires for her, and now, with her weakened state, he saw an opportunity.

What Bhanu didn't expect was that he had finally been given the chance he'd been fantasizing about. Kalyani was already dying, and there was no one left to protect her.

He had already prepared something that would ensure her death before anyone else arrived. After that, he could do as he pleased. The thought of her body, poisoned and helpless, stirred something dark inside him.

Though he had always suppressed his desires because he knew acting on them would surely cost him his life, now, with her on the verge of death, he felt no fear. He knew the assassins had already come to their base, and the Mughals would soon make their move.

Perhaps it was better to die with her than wait for the inevitable. After all, the greater the risk, the greater the reward, if you played the game right.

Ayush was nearing the base camp when suddenly, a system notification echoed in his mind.

"Ding!"

"Congratulations, host, for eliminating the leader of the bandits and establishing the foundation for the future in the village."

"As the one responsible for their death, your rewards will be halved."

"You have received 50 points and one Resurrection Card."

The notification continued:

"With the Resurrection Card, you can bring anyone back from the grasp of Yamraj, once. This card can only be used once on a single individual. If used again, it will be rendered inactive and return to the host's inventory."

Ayush looked at the rewards, his heart racing with shock. Deep down, he sensed that something was wrong, but he couldn't figure out what it was.

He knew he couldn't do anything until he reached the base camp and figured out what was happening. His heart pounded faster as he urged his horse forward, but the dense jungle with its many trees made it difficult to travel quickly.

It was night, but fortunately, it wouldn't take long.

Soon, he would arrive.

In the Jungle

Maan Singh glanced up at the neem tree, then climbed it. After tearing off a dozen small branches from the higher parts, he descended.

"Doctor, we need to find the snake root now. Have you come across any signs of it?" Maan Singh asked, looking at the doctor.

"Don't worry, sir. In the Vindhya Range, we'll easily be able to find the snake root," the man holding the torch replied.

Maan Singh sighed in relief but continued with the search for the snake root.

Meanwhile

Vikram and the two guards, each holding a torch, were staring up at a honeybee nest high in a tree. Vikram spoke with authority.

"Cover yourselves completely. You'll be responsible for distracting the bees. I'll go up and collect the honey. We need to be quick and return as soon as possible," Vikram ordered.

"Sir… the bees?" one of the guards hesitated.

Vikram's eyes narrowed. "Would you rather die under my sword or be stung by a few bees?"

Elsewhere

Ankita and the guards found the first herb by a lower valley near a waterfall. They had made progress, but only one herb remained to be found. Soon, if she searched carefully, Ankita would have it.
