Potential

"Take a seat and wait till you're called" the lady scanned through the room of applicants with her bronze colored hair flowing down her hair like the push and pull of waves in the ocean.

Just from the mere sight of her one could see that she was infact a very strong hunter at least at level 4. It made sense for her to be an official at the Slayer test block.

"You come forward and hand over your information" at the front desk a lady in blue with a pair of purple glasses called forth the first person as she began the screening process.

Qualifying to be a slayer and actually being a slayer were two different things.

Almost 90% of the slayers in the shelters needed to first qualify for the slayer test before even being considered to be allowed amongst the ranks. Killing even the tiniest of monster was just too hard and most times needed to be done in groups or lead by an established Slayer.

However, there were a few lucky ones who could get their kills before coming to get their Slayer badge and qualification like Guilliman, but those were extremely rare.

"Here" a young man pulled out a scroll and handed it over to the lady behind the desk with purple glasses.

"Hmmm Falcon training center…." The lady smirked as she read the information of the young man.

Being from falcon training center meant this individual already had a good backing before coming here, just the tuition to enter alone was a lot. The chances of him qualifying were great.

"Okay step into the black obsidian stone to the left" the lady directly the young man as he walked to a circular flat stone placed next to the wall beside the desk.

First they would test his talent.

In this world, the talent of an individual was separated based on their bodies potential to control mana and skills born from mana and the tiers for that ranged from E rank all the way to A….

—Woom

As the young man stepped onto the black obsidian stone a ray of light engulfed him from out of nowhere enveloping his body in mana.

It was a splendid sight that caused every applicant in the room to look at it in awe.

A minute later, a computation screen appeared before the young man tabulating his stats—

[

Name: Derek Windal

Physical Strength potential: Good

Mental strength potential: average

Physical Mana resistance: Good

Soul strength: Average

Collating potential...

Tier : D

]

The computation screen revealed before all those in the room in the form of a hologram.

"That's…" the other participants in the room felt their chests tightened. Dispite all those stats he only got a D tier potential. This test was cruel.

All his training and the funds spent in the falcon training center was dashed away in a second because after testing there was nothing one could do to change their potential.

He had to live with having a D tier potential rating.

"Sigh," the young man Derek sighed stepping off the obsidian stone. He could no longer afford the falcon training center, his head parents had spent a fortune letting him train there and now it had all been dashed away.

"Congratulations, you have the chance of becoming a slayer" the lady behind the desk smiled at the young man.

Being assigned D tier potential didn't mean he couldn't become stronger, it just meant that his strength was capped at a lower threshold than say those with higher potential.

D tier was the most common tier in the shelter most of the slayers were of this tier and they lived comfortable lives….for the most of it.

"Thank you miss" the young man processed the rest of his data and was led to the back room by the lady with the bronze colored hair for the rest.

Meanwhile, the other participants stepped forward one by one to get tested and what she said was shown as reality.

Most of them, dispite their training and the fortunes they spent on training centers didn't do anything for them….they were all D tier potential.

"Your documents" the lady with purple glasses felt a giant shadow loom over her causing her to look up at a towering young man with a bulky build and amour.

"Here you go.." the giant young man, dispite his enormous build was visibly shaking his heart pounding as a bead of sweat rolled down his forehead, a clear sign of nervousness. If he had felt confident in his training in the training center before? Now he felt like he had completely wasted his time.

Everyone ahead of him were D tier!! This was bad. Especially since a few of them had gone to some famous training centers. What would then be his fate?

"Step into the black obsidian stone slab" the lady with the purple glasses ordered and as if carrying the weight of the world on his shoulder, the young man walked to the black obsidian stone to the left and stepped on it.

A second later it started computing…..

[

Name: Berthold Ironback

Physical Strength potential: Excellent

Mental strength potential: Good

Physical Mana resistance: Very Good

Soul strength: Average

Collating potential... ]

Watching the screen load computations infront of him, the gigantic young man felt his heart beat nervously. The result of this test would determine whether his side of the family would prosper or not…he couldn't fail.

Gritting his teeth and forcing his muscles to flex, a deadly aura engulfed his body causing the lady behind the booth to raise her eyebrow.

"Oh? Ironback, I understand" she smiled feeling the familiar energy, she had tested people from this family before, their genetics were very good.

[

Tier: C

]

"Woooo" as the computation concluded, the gigantic youth let out a breath of hot air feeling extremely relieved. All his hard work paid off.

It wasn't the best definitely not on his older brother level but it was good, really good.

"Congratulations" the lady with purple glasses pushed back her lenses and smiled. It was as expected for a member of the Ironback family.

"Who's next?" After congratulating the gigantic young man, she called a few more people before finally getting to Guilliman.

"Documents?" She asked eye brows raised.

The kid had rags on, his build was sickly and he had rough hair. What was he even doing here?

"I don't have any documents, I just want to go through the test" Guilliman said calmly.

The documents were just a formality of registration, it helped reimburse family's for training their offspring to become Slayers, depending on the level of strength of course.

It also helped with reputation, but guiliman didn't have nor need any of that.

"Okay, let me have your name so I can input it manually" the lady with purple glasses nodded her head and pulled out a hologram stone not so different from the obsidian one on the floor.

The she proceeded to input his information
