The Council

Karina

I don't like this. The thought pulses through my head like a steady drumbeat as I stand beside the triplets, waiting for the Council members to arrive.

I haven't spoken to any of them—not since yesterday, when I requested a meeting just to go over the banquet agenda. As expected, I was ignored. And honestly? It still baffles me. This visit is important for them, too. Shouldn't they care?

"They're taking their fucking time," I hear Killian growl behind me, dragging his fingers through his dark hair with visible irritation.

Ronan sighs, long and heavy, the sound laced with restrained annoyance. "Shut your mouth, will you? They're delayed because of traffic on the northern road. The last thing I need is your temper flaring during the meeting."
