On Christmas Day, I clutched a pregnancy test result, brimming with joy as I rushed to deliver the exciting news to my partner, Steven Jones.
Little did I anticipate overhearing a conversation between him and two of his companions. "Steven, you're not actually considering tying the knot with Cherry, are you?"
"The Cooper family's firstborn has her sights set on you! Marrying Giselle would give you everything!"
"That's right, Steven, this opportunity won't come again!"

My words left Steven and Giselle in shock.


Giselle scoffed, "Who do you think you are? You can't just decide on a whim about our families' partnership!"


"Cherry, please be reasonable," Steven interjected, attempting to ease the tension.


I looked at them with disinterest. "Ms. Cooper, you're dismissed. Our partnership ends now."


The room went quiet, save for Giselle's sputtering. I had already moved on mentally.


Suddenly, Giselle lunged at me, striking my cheek forcefully.


"How dare you? You can't end our collaboration on a whim!" she yelled. "Don't you know I'm close friends with your company's heir?"


Her words oozed arrogance, but I remained composed. I turned to my assistant, "Contact security and file a police report for assault."


My assistant promptly called security, her actions swift and precise.


Giselle, feeling emboldened, smirked at me. "I'm calling my father now. He'll speak to your CEO, and you'll be jobless soon!"
