Steven attempted to pull Giselle back, but she responded by striking him forcefully across the cheek.
"I only married you out of pity, Steven! And now you have the audacity to be unfaithful?" she screamed, raining blows on him while hurling insults. Steven bowed his head, retreating gradually under her onslaught.
As I witnessed this scene unfold, I could only shake my head in disbelief.
The Steven I once knew exuded confidence and drive. Now, he was reduced to this sorry state.
I observed their altercation dispassionately and discreetly signaled my assistant to summon security. She quietly stepped away, phone in hand.
As Giselle continued her assault, Steven stood there, thoroughly embarrassed. A wave of ironic contentment washed over me—how fortunate I was to have avoided marrying him.
In that instant, I felt nothing but relief at having seen his true nature before it was too late.
Without warning, Giselle redirected her fury towards me, her eyes blazing as she shrieked, "This is all your doing, you homewrecker! You lured my husband away!"
She charged at me, poised to attack.
Unlike Steven, I didn't hesitate. The moment she came within reach, I slapped her forcefully across the face.
The sound of the slap reverberated through the room. Giselle and Steven were momentarily stunned into silence.
Steven recovered first, seizing my arm and raising his voice angrily. "Cherry, what do you think you're doing? Do you realize you just struck Giselle? You could lose your position over this!"
He glowered at me, demanding, "Apologize to her immediately!"
I smiled faintly, extracting my arm from his grip. "She came at me first," I stated coolly.
Giselle, enraged, screeched, "I demand to speak with your CEO! I'll ensure you're terminated!"
She fixed me with a fierce glare and yelled, "You're finished, you homewrecker!"
Her outburst amused me, but I shook my head. My tolerance for their antics was wearing thin.
"Cherry, cease this foolishness!" Steven reprimanded. "You're unaware, aren't you? Giselle's closest friend is the daughter of your company's owner. One word from her, and you're out!"
I narrowed my eyes at him. "Are you certain about that?"
To my knowledge, I was my father's sole offspring. When did I acquire a "closest friend"?
Moreover, if I were truly close to Giselle, wouldn't she already be aware of my identity?
At that moment, Giselle turned to my assistant, issuing commands. "Our family came here to form a partnership. If you don't dismiss this woman today, we're withdrawing from the deal!"
"Understood!" I interjected abruptly.
She paused, looking triumphant, but I continued, "Effective immediately, the Adams family will cease all collaboration with the Cooper family."
Turning to my assistant, I added, "Spread the word: all business dealings with the Cooper family are to be terminated at once."
"Certainly, President Adams," my assistant responded promptly.
