Chapter 12

(Third Person POV)

Max's rage boiled over as he pushed Violet away, his voice quivering with anger. "How dare you speak to my wife that way?"

"Your wife? Max, she's gone," Violet replied, bewildered. She had expected him to be relieved at her absence.

"Gone? If I can't find my wife because of you, I'll make you pay," Max threatened icily.

Violet's face betrayed her surprise and desperation. "But Max, isn't this what you wanted? She's out of our lives now. We can be together, especially with our baby on the way."

"Baby?" Max's eyes flashed with disdain.

Violet struggled to maintain her composure. "Max, she left you. Why are you still pursuing her? We have a future as a family!" She touched her belly, her expression pleading.

Max let out a harsh laugh that startled Violet. "A family? Don't delude yourself, Violet. You're nothing to me."

Her eyes widened in shock and pain. "What are you saying?"
