Excruciating pain engulfed my entire body. The agony was unbearable. I let out a muffled groan as the captor pressed his foot onto my hand. "Why isn't he answering?" one kidnapper growled in frustration. "Are we sure we've got the right person?" another questioned. My chest tightened with anguish. I was torn between wanting Ash to answer and hoping he wouldn't, to keep him safe from harm. A piercing cry escaped my lips as my hair was violently yanked. "What's the deal? Why won't he pick up?" Through gritted teeth, I whimpered, "How am I supposed to know his reasons?"

A Desperate Call

Seth, my father, and I entered the event space. I had eventually succeeded in persuading them to attend the party. The gender reveal celebration was in full swing, with joyful sounds and conversations filling the atmosphere. The room was adorned with balloons and soft-colored decorations.


I tugged at my dress hem, questioning if I was going too far. Then I reminded myself that I wasn't the instigator. I was merely restoring balance. Wasn't revenge necessary in this situation?


As we made our entrance, Ash's eyes immediately found me. His gaze widened momentarily, and he excused himself from his group to approach me.


"You look... stunning," he said, forcing a smile.


I ignored him completely, walking past as if he were invisible. The brief pain in his expression didn't affect me anymore.
