Excruciating pain engulfed my entire body. The agony was unbearable. I let out a muffled groan as the captor pressed his foot onto my hand. "Why isn't he answering?" one kidnapper growled in frustration. "Are we sure we've got the right person?" another questioned. My chest tightened with anguish. I was torn between wanting Ash to answer and hoping he wouldn't, to keep him safe from harm. A piercing cry escaped my lips as my hair was violently yanked. "What's the deal? Why won't he pick up?" Through gritted teeth, I whimpered, "How am I supposed to know his reasons?"

A Desperate Call

As I exited, I reached my ultimate verdict. I wouldn't pardon Ash and Kate.


I returned to the medical center but didn't head directly to my mother's room. Instead, I sought out a particular individual.


I found myself in front of his office and rapped on the door.


The door swung open, revealing the face of the man with whom Kate was unfaithful.


"I don't have you scheduled, miss," he remarked, eyeing me curiously.


I offered a grin, "Actually, I'm here regarding Kate."


His demeanor shifted at the mention of Kate's name. "Who's that?" he inquired, but I persisted. I produced my phone, displaying the incriminating photo I'd captured of Kate and him.


"What are you after?" he questioned abruptly, his face betraying surprise.


"I seek the facts," I stated, my tone icy and unwavering. "Or this becomes public knowledge. Everyone here will learn of your dalliance."
