Chapter : On The Cliff

The silence between them was thick, a charged atmosphere filled with unspoken words and lingering heat.

Rain's breath was uneven, his body still tingling from the remnants of Nathaniel's touch, yet his mind rebelled against the intoxicating pull.

He had spent so long trying to resist, trying to escape, yet here he was, trapped in a cycle of fire and shadows, of passion and torment, where every step he took away from Nathaniel only seemed to pull him closer.

Nathaniel studied him, those golden eyes gleaming with something dangerous, something possessive.

The Alpha King did not just look at Rain—he consumed him, devoured him with that piercing gaze, as if he were something precious, something meant to be caged and treasured.

A slow, predatory smirk curled on his lips as he stepped closer.

"You still think you can run from me?" Nathaniel murmured, voice like silk laced with steel. "Even now, when your body betrays you? When your scent screams for me?"

Rain clenched his fists, nails biting into his palms. "Shut up. You don't know anything."

Nathaniel chuckled, the sound dark and knowing. "Oh, but I do, mio dolce. I know every inch of you, every tremble, every breath, every hesitation. Your body speaks to me in ways you never could."

Rain hated the way his skin burned under those words, hated the way his wolf keened for the Alpha's dominance, the way his traitorous heart twisted with something dangerous, something he refused to name. He swallowed thickly, glaring at Nathaniel. "You think this changes anything? I still want to be free. I still—"

He was cut off as Nathaniel closed the distance between them, his fingers tilting Rain's chin up forcefully.

The Alpha's warmth was suffocating, his scent intoxicating, and Rain found himself trapped in those molten gold eyes, drowning in their intensity.

"You are free," Nathaniel whispered, the words both a lie and a promise. "But you will never be free of me. And you will never want to be."

Rain's breath hitched as Nathaniel's thumb brushed over his lower lip, a touch so featherlight yet so devastating.

His heart pounded against his ribs, every nerve in his body strung taut with anticipation, with defiance, with something that made him feel like he was standing at the edge of a cliff, one push away from falling.

"You—"

Nathaniel didn't let him finish.

He crushed their lips together in a searing kiss, one that burned and consumed, that unraveled every carefully constructed wall Rain had built.

It wasn't gentle; it was raw, claiming, punishing. It was a war of dominance, a clash of wills, but no matter how much Rain fought, he was already losing.

His body arched into the Alpha's, his fingers twisting in Nathaniel's shirt, a desperate need clawing at him, a hunger he couldn't contain.

Nathaniel's grip tightened, one arm wrapping around Rain's waist, pulling him closer, pressing their bodies together as if trying to mold them into one.

A growl rumbled deep in his chest, possessive and wild, and Rain shivered, his own wolf howling in surrender.

When Nathaniel finally pulled back, leaving them both breathless, his forehead rested against Rain's, golden eyes dark with unfulfilled hunger. "You will be mine in every way," he murmured, voice rough. "And I will never let you go."

Rain was shaking, his mind at war with his body, with the treacherous longing he couldn't bury.

He wanted to deny it, wanted to push Nathaniel away, but he couldn't. Not when his heart was racing, not when his lips still tingled, not when his body still burned.

But this wasn't over. Not by a long shot.

He would fight.

Even if part of him was already breaking.
