First Mission

Wednesday 3rd September 2016.

Vincent was jogging at a steady yet somewhat rhythmic pace,while humming a popular song in Nigeria he knew very well. He smiled broadly as he was in a good mood.

It has been six months since he started his mission and he was very close to completion so, he has been quite hyped for his rewards. He planted as he wiped his mouth with his right sleeve. As he got close to his home, he heard a heavenly sound pleasant to his hearing, as it was the now-familiar system notification indicating his completion of a task. Once he stopped running he was still slightly panting, he dragged his tired and sweaty body to the bathroom to have a cold shower. When he finished and was about to check his rewards, his sister rushed in shouting. 

"Vincent, mum...mum..she..she" she stutters while crying. 

"Mum what?" I cut her off while hold her.

Seeing that Selna was to disoriented to answer me, I race out of my room to the living room while calling out to her. Then I see her on the floor unconscious, I rush to her side while shouting at Selena who at some point caught up with me." What happened to her ?" Vincent exclaims. 

"I don't know , she just fell" She replied back.

Eventually, we took her to the hospital and the doctors and nurses took over from us. After sometime, the doctor said she was fine just unconscious and weak, she'll wake up after sometime.

I knew exactly where this came from, as my mom toggled three jobs so she can pay the bill's while raising us properly as much as she could. As I sat down bedside her, staring at her serene face I couldn't help but breakdown crying, I didn't want anything to happen to her. She was my only pillar remaining, then all the memories of the last two years came crashing down . While reminiscing I remembered my dad's simple but favourite saying "you define your fate don't let fate define it for you". Then I regained my resolve and will, saying in my head [STATUS].
