The crowd's chatter grew louder. Linda pushed her way through and grasped Zane's arm.
"Don't quarrel over me, please," she begged, her eyes glistening with tears and her mouth quivering. Yet, a glimmer of victory shone in her gaze as she feigned pleading for my sake.
"Luna Selena shouldn't be cast aside because of me. I'm to blame. I'll go and never return!" Linda wept.
Zane promptly embraced her, offering comfort.
"There's no need for you to leave; you've done nothing wrong. Selena's just being cruel!" He snarled, shooting me a venomous look.
I scoffed dismissively as I turned to depart once more. Zane reiterated his warning.
"Selena, if you leave without performing this dance, I'll reject you. I mean it," he cautioned with a low rumble.
I faced him, wearing a bold smirk. "I challenge you to do exactly that," I provoked.
"Pardon?" He asked, bewildered, his jaw dropping in astonishment.
"I dare you to reject me, Zane," I repeated calmly, my smirk widening.
