Chapter 10

Zane's expression immediately darkened. "What? Gone? How could you be so cruel? Did you terminate our baby because I was assisting Linda?" He questioned, visibly shocked.

I shot him a contemptuous look as I responded. "No, I considered termination, but the physician cautioned me that this might be my final chance at pregnancy. However, I experienced a spontaneous loss and the baby didn't survive."

Zane's jaw dropped, "Another miscarriage? How did this happen?"

My venomous glare in response caused him to blanch as he suddenly remembered the incident from two nights prior.

He shook his head in disbelief. "That can't be," he uttered.

"It is, Zane."

"Impossible! It was just a slight push! It wasn't forceful!" He protested, glancing around frantically as if seeking validation.

"Your 'slight' push knocked me to the floor, resulting in the miscarriage," I announced, and gasps of shock reverberated through the hall.
