Michelle sneered, "You heard me correctly. Keep your distance from Jason. I don't give a damn if you were pals before we got together. Now that we're an item, have some self-respect and back off." Her eyes were cold as ice as she spoke.
I was shocked by this unexpected turn of events and the ridiculousness of her statement.
"But—" I attempted to interject, but she interrupted me again.
"Well, wasn't that a lovely conversation? We must do this again sometime," she said with a fake sweet smile before turning and walking away.
I watched her leave, my face a picture of disbelief. Why was everything so bizarre today? I pondered, a slight frown creasing my forehead.
Marcus flashed me a sly smile when I came back.
"So, spill," he began, and seeing my puzzled expression, he laughed. "What were you two up to?" he inquired.
I knitted my brows momentarily before it dawned on me. He assumed Jason and I had snuck off together. I winced, shaking my head vigorously.
