Chapter 20

"Can we chat privately?" He inquired, and without waiting for my response, he grasped my hand and pulled me away, completely disregarding Marcus.

"Jason!"

Jason guided me away from the festivities and into a secluded hallway where the sounds of music and chatter became muffled. His hold on my hand was strong yet gentle.

His unusual behavior was perplexing. "What's the matter, Jason?"

"Have you mentioned to anyone what you witnessed? Or anything about my actions? Or the incident in the corridor?" He questioned, his eyes wide with concern.

I creased my brow, puzzled. "Jason, you're making me uneasy," I confessed, taking a step backward.
