During the celebration, I sensed hostile gazes boring into my back, sending chills down my spine as I tried to dismiss the unsettling feeling.

I attempted to concentrate on the congratulatory messages from fellow healers. Yet, I found myself discreetly scanning the room, noticing a group of individuals who seemed visibly upset about my award.

Determined to enjoy the evening, I pushed these thoughts aside. After all, I had just received recognition and shouldn't allow anything to dampen my spirits.

Nevertheless, a nagging thought persisted. Jason hadn't approached me to offer his congratulations. Besides a brief smile and thumbs-up when I received the award, he hadn't spoken to me, which was uncharacteristic. I felt worried and slightly hurt. Was he among those displeased with my achievement?

"I'm heading to the restroom," I whispered to Marcus later, who nodded in response.

Upon exiting the restroom, I stepped into the hallway and was immediately overcome by an eerie sensation.
