Chapter 46: Past Memories

Ruan looked blankly at the dark sky, the rain that kept poring down the sky non stop she could resemble these rain drops with her tears inside her heart. The wind was blowing quiet hard plus the occasional lightning, making her taking a long breath. She should have asked Lee as her date or could have even live a life with Sargent Zhao Yan.

How ever, fate said to be otherwise, she could have waited an hour long in the campus that day. She could still clearly remembered that day, not long ago:

It was raining like cats and dogs outside. She forgot to bring her little red umbrella and finally gave up her intention.

"Ruan.. have you not go to your home yet? Ruan turned to the source of the voice. She nodded the response to the question. She looked at Penny. How she wonders how lucky is penny's life on the other hand …

"Just finished the class than all in a sudden it began to pouring down."

"There was a canteen outside where you could take a cup of coffee and muffin cake. Or, instead of waiting here you can come home with me! My driver will be here soon." Said Penny pulling Ruan's arm to stand up."

Ruan Shook her head as she did not wanted to bother his friend.

"No need…Lisa. I will be fine…"

"If the reason that you don't want to bother me, I don't want to hear it! Come on, Ruan… how many years we have been friends? Don't be shy with me. Runa cut quickly and correctly about Penny's intention earlier but could her to accept it, she also did not want to argue about trivial matters with Penny, who was very stubborn. 

In the midst of things suddenly a luxurious black Mercy car stooped right in front of the two of them, Penny turned around to Ruan and smiled with the intention of entering into the car immediately. The car returned to the big town very graciously. The big city streets, lights was blazing while the heavy rain had no sign of stopping any time soon.

While on the road, no one spoke, soon Lisa began to tell more about how much she loves the rain, as much she loves her mother. During her past conversation with Ruan she had mentioned that Lisa is very fond of her mother. 

Ruan Thiaun this is my house, said Lisa. Runa looked outside of the and said yes thank you very much for dropping me.. she had arrived right in front of the alley.

"See you tomorrow" said Lisa and she waved her hands, soon the car began to run through the streets. Runa was left alone in the dark street, she was bit scared she hoped that when she will get back her mother will get back to sleep.

She got inside, saw her mother inside the living room lying in a bed, she looked more thin and pale than she looked in the morning. Her mother was diagnosed with severe cancer. Ruan needed to arrange lots of money for her treatment which she can not afford. On the other hand he his father is an Alcoholic.

"Ruan have you came home? I have been waiting for you dear, the pain is getting worse."

Ruan came close and holding the prescription Doctor Xin Yun had given.

These medicine cost way too much, she does not earn much with his job at the restaurant, she has also dropped out from the college as she can not any longer afford the tuition fees! Looking at the painkiller strips she gave on pill for to her mother to swallow with the tap water.

"Look Ruan, I have been telling you father to eat something. but he is not listening to me."

Ruan's father was sitting alone in the chair, stubbed out his cigarette, even throwing the butt at her daughter, "Where the hell have you been?"

"It was raining so, I was waiting for it to stop" Ruan replied softly.

"What ever, where is my alcohol?

He again asked with a very angry voice.

"Where is my alcohol that I asked for?"

Ruan said more softly, "Dad you no I did not have much money, I promise you I will buy you next week.. please eat the dinner". As she placed the rice plate in front of his father.

Runa's father became very angry with the response of his daughter. His eyebrows dipped even further, his emotions unstoppable. He grabbed the plate closets to his side and throws it in the wall.

Prang!

Ruan was in shock. His father is getting worse day by day…

Where is my Alcohol that I asked for.. are you deaf.. you don't listen to me…why did I even made you.. I wasted all my money on a daughter like you…

"I am.. sorry. I am sorry.." Ruan began to cry softly..

"Where is my alcohol", as Ruan's father approached near his daughter grabbing his child's hair without mercy. Ruan could only grimace. He holds her finger so hard it began to hurt but Ruan kept saying nothing in her reply, then her father pushed her head hard into the wall. Blood began to ooze from Ruan's head.

Right now get the hell out of here.. get to the store and buy me alcohol! Or you are really dead this time! Runa's father dragged her daughter outside the house, while her mother begged him to stop from the bed, seeing her daughter in such terrible condition!

Ruan was silent waiting still in her position, she looked down at the ground that was still wet from the rain. Blood flowed again on back of her hand, she did not knew when her bad time will finish!

This time it was not blood that dripped, but drops of water fell from the sky, it seem to rain again. Ruan got up from her seat walking with the limping steps while enduring the pain. She walked towards the mini market with the small purse that had very little money to buy hardly anything!

Then she came close to the streets where she found some boys was taking drugs.

"Hey sweet heart, come lose"

Ruan knows these boys … they sell drugs to the Highschool kids, they are very strong ..these men are associated with a mafia type group named Brotherhood.

"Stop Princess… don't you dare to step forward… come here take off her purse…"

"You Bitch!"

"You don't have any money…"

"Want to make some money.. we can give you… all you need is…."

"Look Jamal.. I have told you.. many times.. I wont join you.. I won't become a prostitute.."

"You can make quick money using your pretty face… I will make you my bitch.. honey…"
