A sign

"Call your people. The hybrid is all yours." Melinda said, her eyes glistening with a hint of madness.

She watches as the young werewolf did a little sign with a wary expression, calling forth her pack. She was probably the leader of the pack.

About 20 werewolves came out of hiding, coming to stand few inches away from Melinda.

"It would be nice knowing your name you know..?" Melinda smiled slyly.

"Piper." The werewolf replied broodingly.

"Cute name." Melinda stated with a slight curl of her lips. She watches as Piper picked up Andrew's body from the ground and gave his neck a huge whiff.

"He is indeed a hybrid!" She exclaimed for her people to hear. "This is what we have been waiting for ever since. We did have our suspicion about hybrid blood and thankfully we have a centuries old vampire her to confirm it. We can turn whenever we want!" Piper smiled hysterically and Melinda was scared for a second that her jaw was going tear.

A random girl stepped out of the pack and brought a big bowl forward.

Without wasting time, Piper pulled out a pocket knife, slicing his wrist open and letting it pour into the bowl.

As the first droplets began to flow, Piper positioned the bowl with precision, its white ceramic interior gleaming in the sunset. The blood poured in, a deep, crimson stream that seemed to pulse with a life of its own.

The sound of the blood flowing into the bowl was almost musical, a soothing melody that seemed to match the rhythm of Piper's own heartbeat. As she watched, transfixed, the bowl began to fill, the blood rising like a dark, liquid tide.

With a steady hand, Piper handed each of her crew members a bowl filled with the hybrid's blood. They drank it eagerly, their eyes gleaming with anticipation.

As they finished, Piper revealed her true intentions. With a cold determination, she began to strike down her crew members one by one. They had been told that this was the only way to trigger the transformation - they had to die and then awaken as hybrids just as humans were turned into vampires.

But just as Piper was about to deliver the final blow, Caroline emerged from the darkness, her eyes blazing with a fierce determination. With swift and deadly precision, Caroline struck down Piper's crew, and then turned to Piper herself.

Piper's eyes widened in shock as she realized she had been deceived. Melinda's plan had been a ruse, and Piper's crew had paid the ultimate price. With a final, desperate cry, Piper fell to the ground, joining her crew in eternal silence.

"Well wasn't that just so pleasing and easy?" Caroline smirked. She swiped a finger and the bodies caught fire and started burning. "Why don't you carry dear Andrew so you can feed him the information he needs once he wakes?"

"Oh please." Melinda rolled her eyes and rushed towards where Andrew was laying down. She bent down to his level and ripped his heart out of his chest and threw it on the floor. "He is better off dead." She added and used a large leaf on the floor to clean the hand she used.

"Seriously? You killed him?" Caroline asked in disbelief.

"I'm the one who killed his parents. He wouldn't want to hear that and he might even bite me. You know how fatal hybrid bite is to vampires."

"Whatever let's just get the fuck out of here." Caroline said and swiped on his body, making it to catch fire and burn. With that they walked out of the forest.

They walked to their apartment, admiring the peculiar beauty of Beckinsdale at night. It was so pretty especially as the moon started to make it's appearance.

As they approached their apartment building, a sudden, searing pain shot through Melinda's finger. She cried out, her hand instinctively flying to her mouth. The ring, which had adorned her finger for over three centuries, was burning with an intense, fiery agony.

Melinda's eyes widened in shock and terror as she stumbled, her knees buckling beneath her. Caroline rushed to her side, grasping her arm to steady her.

"Melinda, what's happening?" Caroline's voice was laced with alarm.

Melinda's face contorted in anguish, her teeth clenched in a snarl. "The ring...it's burning me!"

"Didn't you say the ring never hurts?"

"Well it hurts now!" Melinda shouted glaring at Caroline like she was fool. "It's already too bad enough that this damn thing cannot get the fuck out of my hand. Do something Caro!"

The pain seemed to intensify, Melinda's body shaking violently as she collapsed to the ground. Caroline tried to hold her, but Melinda's thrashing became too intense.

Suddenly, the ring emitted a blinding flash of light, and Melinda's screams reached a fever pitch. The air seemed to vibrate with an otherworldly energy, and then, in an instant, the ring vanished into thin air.

Melinda's body went limp, her chest heaving with ragged breaths. Caroline cradled her head, tears of concern streaming down her face.

"Melinda, oh God, I'm so sorry. What just happened?"

Melinda's eyes fluttered open, her gaze unfocused. She whispered, her voice barely audible, "I think...I think it's a sign. A sign to go go home to Middlesbough."

Caroline's expression turned skeptical. "Middlesbough? Your hometown? The same one you were told to never return to?"

Melinda's eyes seemed to glaze over, her voice taking on a faraway tone. "I have to, now. I'm certain the person who turned me was the one who gave me the ring and now the ring is gone. I obviously have to go back there."

Caroline's grip on Melinda's shoulders tightened. "We'll go, Melinda. We'll figure out what's going on."

Melinda's gaze snapped back into focus, her eyes blazing with determination. "I need to go home, Caroline. I need to uncover the secrets of my past."

With that, Melinda struggled to her feet, her eyes fixed on some distant horizon. Caroline watched, a mixture of concern and curiosity on her face.

"Let's go," Melinda said, her voice firm.

And with that, they set off into the unknown, bound for Middlesbough and the secrets that lay within.
