Chapter 4

As we exited the emergency department, the physician informed Edward and me that our infant was in good health.

"Get some rest and take care of the baby. We'll address our marital issues after the birth," Edward said coldly.

I responded sarcastically, "Do you actually care about the child?"

Edward replied, "Certainly. The baby is my flesh and blood. How could I not care?"

His statement was filled with irony. In my previous existence, he had disregarded my pregnancy, confined me in a chamber filled with venomous serpents, allowed them to bite me alive, and watched as the snakes devoured both me and our unborn child.

Yet in this life, he claimed to care about the baby.

Once Edward departed, I approached the doctor. "Doctor, I request an abortion."

I thought to myself, "My little one, please don't think me cruel. Even if I bring you into this world, you won't find happiness.

In this new life, I wish to sever all connections with Edward.

Forgive me, my child."

Upon leaving the hospital, I returned home and began drafting divorce papers on my computer.

Shortly after 10 PM, Edward arrived home.

"I need to talk to you," we both said simultaneously, much to our surprise.

"You first," I offered.

Edward stated, "Tomorrow, I'll take you to Jessica so you can apologize and beg for her forgiveness."

I chuckled, "Have you lost your mind? You want me to plead for her forgiveness?"

"Why shouldn't you? Jessica and I are merely friends. I view her as a sister. But you're so petty and spiteful, always assuming there's something hidden between Jessica and me," Edward insisted stubbornly.

"Are you certain you only see Jessica as a sister?

What kind of sister asks you to come to her room at midnight to install a light? What sister visits our home while I'm away on business and cuddles with you on the couch in a mini skirt?" I countered.

Edward's face reddened, clearly aware of the truth in my words.

"Regardless, you were wrong to lure Jessica into the Ailfa Mount wilderness. Your malicious intent to harm Jessica is undeniable. Shouldn't you apologize?" He said loudly.

Enraged, I produced my voice recorder and placed it before him, then shouted, "Listen for yourself and see who really harmed whom."
