Chapter 138 ⟴ Yotsuba's Advance

In a clean and tidy bedroom, the steady rhythm of breathing indicated the room's owner was in a deep sleep.

In the dim environment, a furtive figure moved silently.

'Could my previous guess have been wrong? In Itsuki's closet, I can't find Miku's black stockings or even the headphones needed for impersonating her.'

Yotsuba tiptoed around, searching through Itsuki's closet, surprised to find neither the headphones nor stockings anywhere.

Could Ichika and Nino have been the ones who impersonated Miku that night? Was Itsuki's lack of confusion merely coincidental?

After a thorough search left her covered in sweat, Yotsuba had checked every compartment of the closet without success.

Finding no evidence of Itsuki impersonating Miku, she let out a sigh of relief — the situation wasn't as dire as she'd feared. At least she could still trust her sister enough to have an honest discussion.

Having found no evidence or clues, Yotsuba decided to leave before Itsuki discovered her snooping.

Just as she quietly approached the bedroom door, her hand reaching for the handle, the sleeping Itsuki suddenly shouted, "Stop!"

Yotsuba froze as if struck by lightning, standing rigid like a statue, awaiting judgment.

"Nino, leave Daiki-kun alone, that's... Miku's...!"

The sleep-talking sent a chill down Yotsuba's spine.

She had thought Itsuki was awake and had caught her.

'I'm terrible! Even in her dreams, Itsuki defends Miku so firmly! And I doubted her character because of my assumptions! I'm... sorry, Itsuki! I'll make it up to you.' Guilt weighed heavily on Yotsuba's steps.

As she silently apologized for misjudging her sister, Itsuki mumbled another line.

"Let go... let me do it."

The broken speech stopped Yotsuba in her tracks, her guilt evaporating instantly.

'As expected, Itsuki is just as unreliable as I suspected!' Her idealized image of her sister shattered completely.

What shocked her more was how well Itsuki had concealed her true nature. Without this unconscious sleep-talking, Yotsuba might never have known.

She slipped quietly from the bedroom and stood dazed in the hallway.

This situation was far too complex — well beyond her ability to handle!

If she told Miku, it could tear the Nakano household apart. If she kept quiet, she'd be betraying her sister's trust.

"It's all Daiki-kun's fault for being so cunning!" Yotsuba clutched at her messy hair in frustration.

{T/N: He doesn't even try to hide it...}

The dilemma tortured her — tell Miku or stay silent.

Unable to bear it any longer, she left the apartment for a walk.

Brilliant neon lights stretched into the darkness ahead, with scattered pedestrians visible in the distant shopping district.

Who would have thought that beneath this peaceful facade, such turbulent undercurrents churned?

"I wonder where Daiki-kun went. Maybe I should threaten him to take me to see camels? This burden is too heavy to carry alone." Protected by her Spiritual Power, Yotsuba felt safe enough to wander.

She kicked stones idly, her thoughts drifting to Daiki.

"Never mind, I should head back." Frustrated, she turned toward the apartment.

Just then, she caught sight of a figure in the distance.

It was Daiki, returning from his earlier business.

"Daiki-kun's back! I'll make him promise to show me desert camels!" Yotsuba decided to stop meddling in Miku's affairs.

These complicated relationships were too draining.

Whatever happened between Miku and Kishi would be up to them. He'd become part of the Nakano family either way — just a question of which sister's husband he'd be.

Yotsuba raised her arm to call out.

"Daiki!"

An enthusiastic voice made her pause.

She spotted a luxury car on the opposite side of the road.

"Is that Miss Haruno?" Yotsuba instinctively ducked into the shadows of a streetlight.

She watched as Haruno emerged from the car and threw herself into his arms.

Yotsuba's eyes widened — how brazen!

The oblivious Haruno continued her shameless display.

Daiki's promotion to Jujutsu Inspector General, combined with today's Spiritual Vein outbreak, had caused chaos. While other families suffered casualties fighting Evil and Cursed Spirits with mere Cursed Tools, the Yukinoshita family had weathered the crisis thanks to their nine threads of Spiritual Power.

This only increased local wealthy families' fear of Daiki and the Yukinoshitas, lending credence to his rumored position as Inspector General.

The Yukinoshita family's influence had grown exponentially, with most wealthy families in Chiba now following their lead. Their business empire expanded rapidly, keeping Haruno occupied all day.

The moment her family duties ended, she'd rushed to the apartment with some flimsy excuse.

"Yukino isn't here today, Daiki can do whatever he wants — even holding me like this. I won't refuse!" Her delicate body clung like a koala to him, her beautiful, strong legs wrapped around his waist, emanating a fragrant orchid scent.

"You're as enthusiastic as ever, Haruno." Daiki said with a composed smile, maintaining his usual calm demeanor despite her forward behavior.

He noticed Yotsuba in the corner and carried Haruno to the luxury car, after which the vehicle began to rock gently.

Yotsuba's face turned crimson.

"Shameless! Despicable!" She repeated, aghast, "How could they do such things in the car? Aren't they afraid of being discovered?"

After a moment's hesitation, she gathered her courage and crept toward the luxury car, intending to peek through the window.

But as she approached, she noticed steam rising on the glass and jade-like toes pressing heavily against the window from within.

The delicate toes gradually tensed with the rocking motion, becoming taut before Yotsuba's shocked eyes, then suddenly relaxed. They gleamed like pearls, and when they left the glass, a perfect footprint remained visible.

The slowly fading marks sent her thoughts spiraling into chaos, her mind unable to process what she was witnessing.

Could Itsuki and the others have already experienced this with him?

'No, Yotsuba, what are you thinking! Right next door, Haruno is secretly competing for Daiki-kun! Miku doesn't know — even Nino and the others might not know!' She snapped out of her improper thoughts, anger flashing in her eyes.

She couldn't believe Haruno would act this way!

If it were Nino and the others competing, at least it would stay within the family. But this woman's involvement could render all their efforts meaningless!

How could she allow this to happen?

'Should I tell Nino and the others directly? No, it might cause even more trouble! In that case, it's time for me, Yotsuba, to save everyone! For the desert camels, for Miku and the others' feelings!'

She quietly returned to the apartment, clutching Miku's headphones tightly!
