Emily sat across from Valentina, elegantly lifting her wine glass to her lips as she watched the woman in front of her. She had invited her out for dinner as a thank-you for her investments.
The restaurant was one of the finest in the city, and it cost her quite a lot but she didn't mind. 'As long as I can get rid of that annoying Ella.' Thought Emily.
Valentina, ever poised, played with the stem of her glass, her smile never faltering. Through our dinner, she watched Emily ramble around, and just when she was becoming bored, Emily delicately steered the conversation toward the one name they both resented. 'Ella'
"My sister, Ella," Emily murmured as if the name alone was an afterthought. "She and Alexander seem to be getting quite serious, don't you think?"
She watched closely, noting the way Valentina's grip on her glass tightened ever so slightly. It was subtle, almost unnoticeable, but Emily caught it.
