Hana was growing increasingly comfortable with her life in Alexei's villa. Every morning, she woke up to a stunning view of the ocean from her bedroom window. Although she had initially felt some hesitation, that feeling gradually faded. Alexei was always there, picking her up from work, taking her to fancy restaurants, or even cooking dinner for her with great care.
However, beneath that comfort, something continued to bother Hana. Every time Alexei spoke his sweet words, she felt as if she were being adored beyond measure. Yet, there were also odd moments when his attention felt excessive, making her feel more bound than she thought she should be.
One day, after returning from work, Hana found a red rose lying on the dining table, accompanied by a small note that read, "I will always protect you."
Hana smiled slightly, but an uneasy feeling grew within her. She placed the rose on the nightstand, pondering Alexei's constant displays of affection.
Alexei then said, "I'll never let you feel stressed or lonely. I want to take care of everything for you, so you don't have to worry about anything. This is part of my commitment to you."
Hana sensed a hidden pressure in his words. Although his intentions sounded kind, there was a feeling that Alexei wanted more control over her life. Yet every time she tried to express these feelings, Alexei always came up with sweet reasons that made her feel as if she were the most important person to him.
That evening, after dinner at the villa, Hana sat on the balcony, enjoying the cool night breeze. Alexei sat beside her, facing her with an attentive gaze.
"Alexei," Hana began slowly, "You've been so good to me, but something feels off. Sometimes I feel like I'm living in a world you've created for me."
Alexei looked at her with a gentle gaze, though a slight furrow appeared on his brow. "Hana, I just want you to be happy. Everything I'm doing is for you. I want you to feel safe and at peace with me."
Hana took a deep breath, but she didn't know how to convey her feelings without hurting Alexei. "I want to take care of myself and my life, Alexei. I want to remain myself."
Alexei remained silent for a moment, then slowly nodded. "You will always be yourself, Hana. I just want to help and protect you."
But even though Alexei said that, Hana still felt there was something unspoken between them. Something left unsaid, yet constantly pressing on her.
Deep in Hana's heart, her doubts grew stronger. Did Alexei genuinely want her happiness, or was there a darker side that would soon emerge?
Day by day, Alexei's attentiveness only increased. When Hana shared little things about her work, he listened intently, praised her skills, and even offered suggestions that sometimes felt like subtle commands.
One evening, they sat together in the living room after dinner. Alexei looked at Hana with a soft gaze.
"You don't have to work so hard, Hana," he said, gently touching her hand. "I can cover all our living expenses. You only need to focus on your happiness."
Hana paused. His words sounded lovely, but something about them made her feel uneasy. "I feel like I need to do something for myself, Alexei. I want to keep working and contributing to my life."
Alexei smiled, but it seemed slightly forced. "You don't need to worry about that. I can handle everything. You don't have to bother."
Although Alexei's tone was gentle, Hana felt a bit pressured. She didn't want to refuse, but there was a sense that Alexei was drawing a boundary one that made her feel increasingly dependent.
The next morning, after finishing her shower, Hana found Alexei waiting in the dining room with a cup of coffee.
"Good morning, love," he said with a sweet smile, gazing at her affectionately.
Hana returned his smile, though the strange feeling still lingered. She sat down and started sipping the coffee. "Thank you for preparing everything."
Alexei shook his head. "I always want to make you feel comfortable. You know, if you want anything, you just have to say it. I'll always be here for you."
Yet, something in Alexei's words began to feel like a trap. He constantly offered grand gestures, promising to fulfill all her needs even before she could ask. His excessive attentiveness sometimes felt like a subtle form of control.
As their conversation continued, Alexei started sharing stories about his wealthy family, how his parents always expected everything to go their way, and how he felt pressured to always be perfect. Though his story evoked empathy, Hana felt as if she were being presented with a world she could never fully understand.
