Update

Hey hey, Author here. Sorry for the lack of content. I have a bit of a problem. For some reason, whenever I try to upload my writing to websites, my productivity falls off a cliff. I have a few theories.

1: My anticipation for people's thoughts about my work causes my mind to wander and distracts me.

2: I am trying to force myself to write certain content every week even if I want to write something else, so my writing time is spread across a dozen different scenes at all times and I can't focus on one in particular. I want to draft more of book 2, I'm trying to write chapter 12, I'm editing chapter 8, I'm scripting scenes for book 3 and 4. I'm all over the place. I can't just sit down and write whatever comes to mind because of the forced schedule for chapter releases.

So what's the fix? I think I need to blacklist these writing websites and disappear to write on my own schedule. When a full book is completed, I will return to post the entire book, then blacklist the websites again and disappear for a few months while I write the next book.

Because not all writing websites allow for chapter scheduling, I will not be using this feature. People can read the story where they want. You won't need to go to certain places to read in advance. Everyone will get all chapters for a book at the same time.

People are used to the slow release of small bits of content, so this is probably a bad idea, but oh well. This is the only solution I can think of. I just want to write the story and if this helps then so be it.

I'm not sure how often you'll get a book, but I started working on this Pokemon fan fiction late last year and I wrote a lot. From October to December I wrote the draft for book 1, wrote a decent chunk of book 2's draft, and did an absurd amount of planning for future books. I was writing about 80k to 90k words a month. Wrote over a quarter million words in 3 months. I think that's pretty good and I'm hoping that returning to just working on what I want, when I want will help me get back to writing so much again. Sure, I don't always work on the current thing, but if anything that's a positive for me. I know exactly what's happening in the future of the story.

And just to clarify on why I do so much planning and scripting scenes and drafting, it's quite simple. Most of my writing is the very definition of 'good idea, bad execution' when I first write it. I need to put in a lot of effort to create good content.

I know actions speak louder than words and I have no way of proving myself right now. Unless maybe I share the draft? But I assume most don't want a half-complete story or to have certain plot points spoiled. Maybe I can do a monthly report or something where I come back and show my word count or the amount of chapters I've written. We'll figure something out. I want to keep people in the loop if possible.

So I'll see you all in a few months with book 1. I'm really sorry about this, I know it's a pain to have another author go dark, but trust me, I am working on this story every day. It's just not always chapters ready for posting. Thank you for reading this preview and thank you for the kind words. I hope the rest of book 1 lives up to the praise.
