Abuse Her Daughter

"What are you saying that she isn't qualified? She is a Ferrero! The woman you are talking about is your wife! She has a beautiful name with a significant meaning in it!"

Aleksandr is screaming, but Aleckin is uninterested in listening further.

"Whatever…" he shrugged a shoulder, rolling his eyes.

'Why does Grandpa believe in superstition that Yelena brings glory to this family? The company was already on top even before I married that woman. I work my arse each day to please this older man. But then, she will earn the praises? Hah! I want to slap her across the face for being thick!'

"You…" Aleksandr clenched his jaw at the sight of Aleckin's stubbornness. Before he had a heart attack, he reminded himself to breathe in. After he calmed down, he went on. "I would not repeat myself, Aleckin Ferrero, so listen carefully. Jacob Davies has a debt he wants to pay to David Herbert, your deceased father-in-law. Hence, it would be best if Yelena presented the proposal. For sure, Jacob would not turn down his goddaughter."

Aleckin thought he had only heard a joke. He chuckled, then spat out his words with contempt, mockingly saying,

"You're kidding, isn't it, Grandpa? How could that woman win a business deal? Do you know she is…"

"Shut up! Yelena is a brilliant child! She graduated from a prestigious academy with flying colors! You cannot question her diploma!"

"Are we even talking about the same person, Grandpa?" Aleckin questioned Aleksandr. "Is it you visit her occasionally? Why can't you differentiate a brilliant person from a lunatic?"

"Lunatic, you say? How could you insult your wife like that?!" Aleksandr shudders from rage. He appears poised to hurl the cup he's holding.

"Grandpa, the woman you described is too far from the one I met the other day."

Aleksandr paused a moment. He grimaced. "So, you admit now that you met your wife, huh? Then why did you not bring her to me? I told you to bring her home! This mansion is waiting for her!"

"I…" he wanted to tell the old man the truth, but he could not reveal the divorce yet.

His grandfather is fussing about Yelena, and now the mansion is named after her. Would he allow that? No! He would fight for his rights as the true heir of this family.

"Grandpa, how could you say that the person you meet is truly elegant and a brilliant lady? Because the last time I checked her, she was stuttering and looked like someone who works in a cabaret. Did we even meet the same person?"

His question made Aleksandr constricted his pupils. After a brief contemplation, he called Eddie the Butler.

"Butler! Contact Lina Herbert this instant! Tell her to book a flight to Perth City for Yelena!" After he ordered the butler, his eyes darted toward his grandson. "Do something in your face and pick up your wife tomorrow!"

"No." Aleckin refused. Why would he chase after his ex-wife? "Yelena Herbert is no longer a part of this family."

"What did you say?" The furrowed lines on the older man's face deepened. His brows knitted together.

"I said…" Aleckin decided to confess that he had divorced Yelena. But…

"Master!"

Out of nowhere, Samson Miller, Aleksandr's most trusted subordinate, approached the older man. He leaned over and whispered, and then he handed him his phone.

Aleksandr clutched his chest and stretched his left hand, pointing his index finger toward Aleckin.

"Yo-you…"

"Grandpa!" Aleckin shouted.

"Master!" Faces etched with worry, the butler and the other servants cried out.

The patriarch collapsed.

"Grandpa Alek!" Rolan rushed to Aleksandr's side and quickly assessed his condition. He looks at the butler. "Call Dream City Hospital to send an ambulance! And… Tell them to prepare an operating room for me!"

"Right away!" The butler immediately browses her contact.

Meanwhile, it took several seconds for Aleckin to recover from shock. He approached the sofa where his grandfather had collapsed, but Rolan stopped him.

"It will be best if you stay away, Aleckin. Give room for Grandpa." Rolan is giving the older man first aid. Beads of sweat form his forehead.

An ambulance arrived shortly, and Aleksandr was rushed to the hospital.

Outside the operating room, Aleckin waited for Rolan, who changed into surgical attire.

"Aleckin, I want you to sign this consent form."

"Rolan, what is going on?" He inquired with concern. Although he and his grandfather constantly bicker, he never wishes to harm the older man. He just wanted his grandfather to leave the company and give him the freedom to decide. He's f**king turning thirty in a couple of years!

Rolan glared at him. "This is what I wanted to discuss with you. But you always cut the call when I brought up your grandfather!"

"He's just using you to contact me," was his defense.

Rolan shook his head. "Aleckin, your grandfather is no longer young. He grew lonely each day and needed company. He may not have told you directly, but he is nagging you to bring your wife home so he has someone to talk to. Money can indeed buy happiness, but there is a moment in our lives when all our riches cannot satisfy our lonely hearts."

Aleckin stared at Rolan oddly. Suddenly, the man becomes poetic.

Sensing his doubts, Rolan sneered and added, "I am a heart surgeon. Normally, I study all the possible causes of someone's heart problems. Grandpa Alek's case is complicated. So listen to me. Stop contradicting him if you want him to keep him alive."

Rolan turned around to scrub his hands but noticed that Aleckin was still in a trance. "Why don't you sign the consent and pick up your wife? You wouldn't know it was the best medication your grandfather needed!"

Aleckin was still reluctant. He signed the consent form and gave it to his assistant, who would take the necessary steps. At the corner of his eyes, he caught Samson's silhouette in the corner.

He approached the man and grabbed his collar, which he held tight.

"What did you say to Grandpa?" Aleckin inquired, then warned him. "Make sure you are telling me everything. Otherwise, I will take you responsible for why Grandpa had a heart attack!"

"Young master…" Samson was so terrified that he almost wet his pants. Stuttering, he delivered his report. "Old Master ordered me to monitor Lina Herbert. I received a report that the woman abused her daughter."

Aleckin was taken aback, shocked by the news.

"Abused her daughter?"
