Chapter 6

Adam, his expression filled with concern, reached for Alan's hand in an attempt to calm him. However, Alan reacted swiftly, pushing Adam away and following up with a forceful kick.

The gravity of the situation suddenly dawned on everyone present. They could only bow their heads and stand there, shaking with helplessness.

Alan's spouse fell to the floor beside my bed, weeping uncontrollably.

"Mia, I blame myself for not getting here sooner!" she cried out.

Mustering what little energy I had left, I barely managed to whisper, "Please don't cry, ma'am."

Noticing this, Alan hastily wiped away his own tears, his movements awkward and rushed. He gave me an encouraging thumbs-up, his voice rough but resolute.

"Come on. I'm taking you home."

Upon hearing those words, I couldn't hold back my tears.

Alan had always been fond of giving me a thumbs-up, often commending me as his most dedicated student. He had placed great faith in me.
