The darkness surrounding me was the least of my fears. The insane jerk wasn't kidding when he told me that he's going to steal my father's daughter—me.
Well, as soon as I met him - I found myself dealing with two options.
Option 1: I stay with him willingly until my father gives him back his jewel. He will then think about forgiving my father's crime and won't harm my nanny.
Option 2: I fight him, and he'll take me, anyway. Worse, he'll make sure to kill my nanny and hunt my father as an animal.
You see, he was much of a gentleman to give me the choice.
I didn't think twice before deciding; no one would. I mean, the psycho threatened me with the lives of my family members. I do not know for what reason he's showing such an interest in me, yet I feel it can be nothing good.
The thing is that my eyes are still banded while I don't know where I am.
Somehow, while lost in my thoughts, I heard someone's footsteps approaching me. Weirdly enough, I kind of knew it was Marco.
I mean, who would it be if it's not him?
"That jewel my father took…" I started.
"You mean 'stole'!" He corrected me. Since I wasn't in a position that allowed me to search for trouble, I remade my incomplete question.
"The jewel my father stole... How precious is it to you? I mean, how much does it cost?"
"More than you can imagine!" That was all he said to me, which wasn't what I was waiting for as an answer. So, I asked him again.
"Million of dollars?"
"You ask a lot of questions, which is annoying!" His voice wasn't loud, yet the way he was speaking was more like a threat. It was as if he was commanding me to shut it, and I hated it when people commanded me. Well, he should know better than to think I would listen to his commands.
"If you took me to 'I don't know where,' Then at least tell me why?" "Let's put it clearly, Red…"
I didn't wait for him to say whatever he was going to say, since I hated how he called me Red. "Jessica! My name is Jessica, not Red…"
"I should've banded your mouth too, not only your eyes. Anyway, put in mind that you're my prisoner, not my guest. A prisoner that I will use to restore what once used to be mine. For so, I'm not forced to tell you anything."
Not that I didn't know it before, yet it makes me feel down knowing that I've lost my freedom.
Marco's point of view:
I don't know for what reason, teasing her seems too much fun. Still, she wasn't happy about it. I'm just using her, I shall care less about how she feels.
The jewel her father stole isn't a normal jewel—it's the lion's eye. One of my family's precious belongings, I worked hard to get it.
As an illegal child, I was never welcomed inside my family until I made a name for myself and became who I am by now. My brother grew up with a golden spoon, while I was thrown into a damn orphanage.
My father loved my mother, but they were never equals. He had married my grandfather's best friend's daughter out of duty, leaving my mother to be treated as nothing more than a mistress. I was too young to understand the complexities of their relationship. To me, they were just my parents, and they both showered me with the love I needed.
But when they were both taken from me, I learned how unforgiving the world could be. The first taste of cruelty came from the one person who was supposed to protect me—my grandfather. Instead of offering comfort, he was the first to show me hatred.
Instead, he sent me into an orphanage while keeping my brother and his mother under my his protection.
The orphanage wasn't as bad as I thought. I made there something I've always dreamed of family.
My life, however, was far from easy. Unlike my brother, I've learned to work harder to get anything I wanted. Because of my intellect and hard work, I've earned many scholarships and was always the first one in every school I've joined. Then I end up succeeding in having a seat in the police academy.
When I first wore the uniform, I made an appearance in my old house. Of course, I wasn't welcome back then. Still, when I told him what I was planning for, everything changed. Especially when my plan worked, and was better than what I've thought.
To everyone, I was just a simple policeman at the drug department. The truth is that I've decided to start growing big by making deals with my grandfather. He just needs to provide me with the names of the drug dealers that are on his way.and by the next day, the brave officer would have them in custody. Of course, none of it would've been possible without the support of my newfound family.
You must be curious about them, aren't you?
Living in the orphanage was tough—it was a jungle where the strong ruled, and I was an easy target. Luca, the fearless kid that everyone respected, stood up for me and taught me to fight back. He was the turning point of my life and became more of a brother to me than my real one.
Through him, I met the "mad twins," Patrick and Patricia. They lost their parents in a car accident caused by a wealthy man who used his money to escape his crime. Being the son of another wealthy man was something that they hated about me. So, it took time to accept me. The most interesting one was Patricia, she indeed had a talent for "magic," she was always able to make things disappear into her pocket.
By their help, I cleaned the city of drug dealers and helped the Di Genovas eliminate their enemies. That earned me a promotion and made us the city's most feared crew.
While lost in my thoughts, and without knowing how. She used both of her tied hands as a punch and threw it in my face.
I have to admit that she has a powerful punch. Yet, she was way too dumb when she decided to escape with her hands tied and her eyes bandaged.
She, of course, failed to run, and when she noticed how foolish she was, it was already too late for her to do a thing.
Hopefully, the incident happened inside the house, and beside Luca, none of my men witnessed it. Otherwise, it would've been a waste of a pretty face.
Still, she needs to be punished for what she committed, and I know exactly how I'll make her pay forward.
