I've spent the last few days while trying to heal. None of them appeared, there was only one maid who was in charge of taking care of me. Which I honestly appreciate.
I mean, I wasn't doing anything but laying in the bed, while eating or sleeping.
I never thought that I would enjoy doing nothing until now. Likewise, I should've gotten captured long ago. Well, it seems like I did it again. I spoke something wrong and way too soon before discovering what was waiting for me.
While lost in my thoughts, and without bothering himself to knock, Marco made his way inside the room. He grabbed my chin roughly and started checking if the mark still existed.
" You'll have a job tonight!" He explained while taking me aback.
" Tonight!!!" I asked, and he ran his hand through his hair, as he explained.
" I know you might not be fully healed, mentally or physically… Still, I have no choice but to use you, and you have no choice but to accept your new life."
For some unknown reason, I can lie to everyone but him. Immediately, I let the act out and snapped at him.
" That's not my life, and it will never be! I Would never make a living based on killing others."
" Cut with the drama, don't make me regret not selling you already!" He snaps, not loud yet viciously.
His sharp words lingered in the air as he stormed out of the room, leaving me alone once more. My mind raced, trying to make sense of his cryptic declaration. "A job tonight…"
I got myself ready while holding my tears back, I know he was always a jerk and always will be. What should I expect from my capture - yet, he was never as cold as today. He was treating me as an object and even thinking about selling me!!!
I don't even feel like pursuing that stupid plan I made to get out of here; I feel stuck.
As soon as I was done, I knocked on the door, gesturing that I was done while waiting for someone to open it. Guess who was it??
Yeah, it was none other than Luca—or as I like to call him, the human wall.
"You look fine," he muttered, not even sparing me a glance.
I rolled my eyes, leaning casually against the door. "How would you know? You're not even looking at me."
He laughed. "That's where you're wrong, little one." His voice carried a teasing edge, and for the first time, his gaze focused on mine.
"Little one?" I repeated with a chuckle as I nearly laughed. It's indeed funny how I consider him to be a human wall and at the same time he seems to consider me as a 'Little one'.
He didn't deserve the satisfaction. Instead, I crossed my arms and smirked. "Funny. You don't strike me as someone with a sense of humor."
"Don't get used to it," he said with a shrug, turning to leave.
"Trust me," I muttered under my breath while following him.
"I won't." He started, then added as he was leading the way, " Whatever happens today, don't be afraid, and just trust in Marco - he would never give up on one of us."
I kind of feel that he was trying to calm down, still, what happened is the opposite. Fear started creeping inside me, and I found myself muttering without realizing it.
" One of you, not me!"
Neither of us said a word after that. When we finally arrived in the hall, I was surprised by the sight before me—everyone was dressed in a chic, sophisticated way, while I stood there, looking like a streetwalker in a dress that covered nothing.
Out of the blue, Luca swiftly pressed a piece of cloth over my mouth. Panic surged through me as the sharp, chemical scent filled my nose. My body tensed, but within moments, a heavy dizziness set in. The world blurred, darkness crept in, and before I knew it, I was unconscious.
When I woke up, I found myself in a dirty van packed with girls, all dressed same as me. I ran my hand through my hair, trying to understand what had happened. The realization hit me like a punch to the gut: Marco had sold me as he said.
Not just me, but all the girls seem to have the same fate as me. Sold to who we were sold a,d for what? I don't seem to have a clue.
Lost in my thoughts I was when a voice snapped me out of my daze.
"First time huh?" one of the girls said, her tone oddly casual.
I blinked at her, unsure of how to respond, so I stayed quiet. Her knowing smile didn't despair. It was as if she could see what was waiting for me ahead.
"My first time was terrifying too," she continued, her voice soft but edged with something dark. "But you will get used to it… sort of."
Her warm smile felt out of place as she was still speaking. "Just… whatever you do, don't try to run. It always ends badly. You'll get caught, no matter what. And when you do, it's worse than you can imagine."
I swallowed hard, my mouth suddenly dry. "Where are we?" I asked, my voice was sort of a whisper. I wasn't sure if I wanted an answer, though.
"Slave auction, honey," she said. "Welcome to the world of slavery. Here, you'll be sold from one master to the next only if you're lucky. If not…" She trailed off for a while, then added with a bitterness in her voice. "Well, if your master gets bored by you, they won't sell you. They'll just… get rid of you and buy someone new."
My chest tightened as the horror of my situation began to sink in. I wasn't just trapped; I was doomed.
