Ch 105 : New Chapter

That evening's banquet, Makoto arrived rather late, apologizing that he had been delayed by some clan affairs.

Jiraiya jokingly teased, "Makoto, were you perhaps whispering sweet nothings to some young lady in your clan?"

Shikaku chuckled and said, "Makoto-kun is such a serious person; he doesn't seem like the type to have a girlfriend."

The people at the banquet were the usual familiar faces, but their attitude towards Makoto was much warmer than before.

The camaraderie forged through fighting side by side on the battlefield was different— even if their political views differed, they could still sit together and drink without worry.

At the table for the younger generation, Hakumen was dragged over by Guy and seated with the others.

Everyone had met him before and, knowing he was Makoto's personal guard, they welcomed him without issue.

They chatted and laughed while drinking, with Obito boasting the loudest, claiming that he had finally gained recognition from his clan and would be given special training.

Genma Shiranui scoffed, "If even a dropout like you is getting special training, then the Uchiha of this generation must be pretty weak."

This remark caused the whole table to burst into laughter.

Obito was a bit frustrated and tried to come up with various reasons to rebut Genma, while Kakashi added his own sarcastic comment, agreeing with Genma's words.

Obito turned to Rin, hoping for some comfort, only to find her eyes fixed elsewhere.

"Rin… Rin?"

"Huh?"

"What are you looking at?"

"I'm looking at… Minato-sensei."

Obito scratched his head, thinking, what's so interesting about Minato-sensei?

As soon as Minato's name came up, the conversation shifted.

Asuma sighed, saying that the victory in this war was thanks to Lord Minato.

Everyone nodded in agreement, and Ebisu remarked that it was a shame that someone as outstanding as Minato-sensei hadn't become Hokage.

But as soon as the words left his mouth, he was met with reminders from those nearby, along with a sharp look from Anko.

"Isn't it good for Lord Orochimaru to be Hokage?" she asked sternly.

"Uh... the Fourth Hokage is fine," came the response.

Aknko didn't tolerate anyone speaking ill of Orochimaru in front of her, and everyone was well aware of that.

When the conversation shifted back to the battlefield, someone brought up Makoto.

Asuma turned to Hakumen and asked, "Why does Makoto's fighting style seem so different from the other members of the Hyuga clan?"

The huge illusion on the battlefield that day, and the sight of Makoto soaring through the sky, displaying his mighty power, was witnessed by all of them.

But in everyone's impression, the Hyuga clan was known for their proficiency in taijutsu and gentle fist techniques.

Hakumen shook his head, saying that he wasn't sure about Makoto's strength either, as he rarely saw Makoto practicing.

Genma clicked his tongue and remarked, "Makoto seems about the same age as us."

Some of them glanced towards the Hokage's side, looking at the various clan heads laughing and talking with Makoto.

They couldn't help but feel a sense of awe; Makoto was clearly not on the same level as them.

Having someone like Kakashi in their peer group was already enough to be a blow to their pride.

"Hakumen, can you fly?" someone asked.

Hakumen shook his head again.

"Flying must feel amazing," Kurenai said.

"I'd love to try it," Shizune added.

Anko, hearing this, began to think about asking Makoto to take her up into the sky later.

No one could resist the temptation of flying.

Obito saw everyone's expressions and thought for a moment before quietly asking Rin, "Rin, do you want to fly in the sky?"

Rin responded, "…It's fine, I guess."

Her expression was slightly awkward, but Obito didn't notice.

He simply made up his mind, thinking to himself that he would go to Makoto later and ask him for the secret technique to fly.

The conversation among the group shifted to the topic of the Kumo Ninja captives, discussing how the village would handle them.

"They'll definitely be killed. The Kumo Ninjas killed so many of our comrades," Ebisu said.

Some people nodded in agreement, while Asuma added, "If they were going to be killed, they could have been killed on the front lines. Why bring them back to the village for execution? Maybe they plan to use these people as leverage in negotiations."

Genma then asked, "What about the comrades who died?"

Asuma replied, "Revenge doesn't necessarily mean killing. If we can use these people to exchange for more, it could be a big help to the village right now."

He then turned his gaze to Kurenai, "Kurenai, what do you think?"

Kurenai only gave a light laugh, "I'm not sure."

"Kakashi?"

"I think both possibilities are likely," Kakashi said.

The banquet went on late into the evening before everyone finally dispersed and returned to their respective homes.

On his way back, Makoto suddenly encountered Obito, who was walking beside Rin, talking to her non-stop.

"Makoto!" Obito immediately greeted him with a broad smile when he saw him.

Rin, who had been looking down as she walked, quickly raised her head.

Makoto looked at the two of them and asked, "On a date?"

Obito grinned awkwardly, "Yeah!"

Rin immediately shot him a glare, "Don't say that!"

She quickly explained to Makoto, "Obito just wanted to talk to me about something."

Makoto nodded, "Well, you two talk, I'll head back now. See you later."

"See you later, Makoto," Obito waved to him as he left.

As Makoto walked away, Rin quietly watched his retreating figure.

Obito's voice continued to chatter in her ear, but this time, she didn't really hear a word he said, her mind elsewhere.

A few scattered stars shone in the sky, while shadows of people were scattered across the ground.

The streetlights flickered, their lights swaying like the uncertain heart of a person.

Suddenly, Rin stopped and turned to look at Obito.

"Rin... Rin?"

"Obito, I told you, I have work tomorrow, I can't go on a date with you."

"What about the day after tomorrow? Or the day after that?" Obito quickly asked.

Rin sighed helplessly, "Obito, you shouldn't always focus on things like this. Don't you want to become Hokage? If you don't work hard and train, how will you become Hokage?"

Obito scratched his head, "You're right, Rin."

Rin said, "Since you have a clear goal, you should work hard toward it."

Obito nodded vigorously, "I will, Rin!"

"It's late, I need to go home now. You should head back and rest early too."

Obito waved at Rin's back repeatedly, his face still unable to hide his smile.

"Rin is really thinking of me," he thought to himself.

......

The news of the defeat of Kumogakure quickly spread throughout the ninja world.

Konoha's repeated victories, often with fewer troops defeating larger forces, further solidified its reputation as the number one ninja village.

Previously, some smaller countries had been eyeing Konoha's weakened state, hoping to take advantage, but now they all abandoned those thoughts.

The power of Kyuubi had intimidated them.

This battle elevated the Yellow flash's fame even further, and Hyuga Makoto's name slowly began to spread across the ninja world.

After all, a ninja who could fly was incredibly rare.

Soon after, Kumogakure sent a peace treaty, asking Konoha to release their Raikage and the captured Kumo ninja, offering to pay any price and promising never to invade again.

Of course, Konoha wouldn't easily agree to such a ridiculous request.

Just because they had invaded and lost didn't mean they could leave unharmed.

Even if the Hokage agreed, the villagers would not.

Konoha ignored the peace treaty from Kumogakure, setting it aside and disregarding it.

The Daimyo, however, was very faithful and sent a large sum of money and treasures to Amegakure.

The Land of Fire and the Land of Rain, along with Konoha and Amegakure, officially established diplomatic relations.

With careful guidance, the new leader of Amegakure, Yahiko, was portrayed as a revolutionary who opposed the brutal rule of Hanzo the Salamander.

He established a new order in Amegakure, presenting himself as a pioneer committed to maintaining peace.

Old grudges were thus wiped away.

A new chapter was about to begin in the ninja world.

Makoto began focusing on the village's internal affairs, and everything started to fall into place.

Orochimaru's research seemed to have made new progress, as he spent every day immersed in his lab, neglecting food and sleep.

Makoto planned to focus on developing industry once the village's finances stabilized.

To that end, he began gathering craftsmen and designers skilled in electrical engineering.

As winter passed and spring arrived, Konoha finally endured through the most difficult year.

Then, Makoto received a surprising piece of news.

Ayari was pregnant.
