Ch 123 : Play along

Inviting someone to a meal and specifically wearing maid outfits and qipao?

Their intentions were obvious.

But to be fair, they had the assets to pull it off!

The best way to deal with a honey trap? None other than playing along!

After feasting his eyes, Makoto gladly took the main seat.

Yugito had been observing Makoto's expression closely.

Seeing him sit down without any reaction, she cursed him inwardly—what a shameless pervert!

Shouldn't a normal person at least show some surprise?

Once everything was set, Makoto finally spoke: "Looks like you all put quite a bit of effort into this."

It was hard to tell whether he was referring to the spread of dishes or something else.

Yugito smiled and replied, "Since we're inviting you to a meal, of course, we couldn't be careless."

"Have a seat."

The food was plentiful, and though Makoto didn't know who had cooked it, the presentation looked quite good.

Some of the dishes were unfamiliar to him, likely specialties from the Land of Lightning.

Makoto suddenly chuckled and said, "You didn't poison the food, did you?"

Yugito hurriedly responded, "Of course not! If you don't believe me, I'll try it myself!"

Without hesitation, she picked up her chopsticks and took a bite from each dish, chewing and swallowing it without hesitation.

Seeing her like this, Makoto found it amusing.

He wasn't worried about poison—these three weren't foolish enough to try something that reckless.

Samui had been quietly observing Makoto, trying to gauge his personality and preferences.

She knew that Yugito's impatient nature wouldn't be able to deceive him.

From the moment he stepped into the room and saw her and Mabui, it was clear he had already figured out their intentions.

Under the watchful gazes of the three women, Makoto picked up his chopsticks, took a bite of the food, and found it surprisingly delicious—far better than anything Ayano had ever made.

Nodding in approval, Makoto said, "This tastes really good. Who made it?"

"It was Samui," Mabui replied.

Makoto turned to look at her.

Samui maintained her usual composure, remaining silent and keeping up her cool and aloof demeanor.

Her calm, indifferent expression paired with her stunning figure had an irresistible allure to men.

She stood up and gracefully poured tea for Makoto, leaning in close as she did.

Her fragrance filled his senses—rich and captivating, unlike ordinary perfumes or natural body scents.

As she moved, the silky qipao slid over her body, revealing a glimpse of smooth, snow-white skin beneath the high slit.

Makoto recalled that in the entire shinobi world, Samui was one of the few women whose figure could rival Tsunade's.

And now, such a beauty was right within his grasp…

He suddenly felt like he might be falling into their trap.

Without thinking, his hand naturally extended, and his fingers brushed against the soft skin just beneath the slit of her dress.

A stream of clear liquid poured from the teapot's spout, cascading down into the porcelain cup, swirling and splashing gently inside.

Samui's body stiffened slightly at the touch, feeling an itch creep up her leg, but she remained composed, finishing the tea-pouring before slowly sitting back down.

Makoto leisurely remarked, "I didn't expect you to be such a great cook as well."

Samui responded slowly, "I used to cook for myself quite often."

"These must be specialties from the Land of Lightning, right?"

"Yes. As long as you enjoy them, that's all that matters."

"I'm not picky. As long as it's delicious, I can eat anything."

Seeing that Makoto's attention had indeed been drawn to Samui, Yugito felt secretly delighted—her plan was working.

This guy was indeed a pervert!

Now, all that was left was for Samui to keep up the effort and firmly capture Makoto's heart, making him fall head over heels for her.

If that happened, the Raikage would be saved, and they would all have a chance to return to Kumogakure!

Makoto enjoyed the lunch thoroughly.

Although he could easily see through their ulterior motives, he was happy to play along with their little game.

Why not take advantage of the situation?

As he was about to leave, Makoto suddenly said to Samui, "It just so happens that I need an assistant. You can come over tomorrow."

All three women were momentarily stunned, and Yugito was overjoyed.

In her eyes, this meant Samui was already making progress in getting close to Makoto.

However, Samui's expression grew heavy.

She watched Makoto's departing figure, her gaze flickering with uncertainty.

Was this really a good thing?

As a high-ranking figure in Konoha, Makoto's assistant would inevitably have access to many village secrets.

Yet, he had invited her to the position so casually and without hesitation…

Samui realized that Makoto had no intention of letting her leave the village.

It made sense—she was a captive from an enemy village.

Once he grew tired of her, what would become of her?

Biting her lip tightly, Samui couldn't help but feel anxious about her future.

Yugito, however, hadn't thought that far ahead.

She was too busy celebrating this milestone in their plan with excitement.

Grabbing Samui's hands tightly, Yugito said with enthusiasm, "Samui, you have to keep working hard!"

Watching Yugito, who was completely absorbed in her own delusions, Samui suddenly felt a deep sense of sorrow.

Can the three of them really rescue the Raikage and return to Kumogakure on their own...?

And even if they did make it back, who could guarantee that they wouldn't be labeled as traitors?

If possible, aligning herself with this Hyuga Makoto and doing her best to please him might not be such a bad idea.

Living in Konoha in the future might actually be a better choice.

"I'm a little tired, I'm going to rest for a bit," Samui said calmly, pulling her hands away from Yugito's grasp.

Yugito watched as she walked into the inner room, lost in thought.

She turned to Mabui and said, "Samui doesn't seem very happy, does she?"

Mabui hesitated before replying, "Because... she's the only one making sacrifices. The two of us haven't done anything."

From her position earlier, she had clearly seen what Makoto had done to Samui—his hand had been resting on her leg the entire time.

Mabui shivered at the thought of being in Samui's place, feeling his touch on her skin.

Selling one's body, giving up one's dignity—these things were easy to talk about, but when it actually came down to it, how could one overcome that mental hurdle?

Had she died on the battlefield at the hands of Konoha's shinobi, it might have been a kind of relief.

She wouldn't have to endure this torment.

Back then, she wasn't afraid of death.

But after surviving the battlefield, after experiencing the torture and interrogations of Konoha's ninja, Mabui found herself desperately wanting to live.

Yugito remained silent.

She wished she could take Samui's place, but she knew she wasn't as beautiful or as skilled at handling men as Samui was.

What should she do...?

After a long silence, Yugito walked into Samui's room.

"Samui..." she spoke softly.

"It's okay," Samui, lying on the bed, suddenly said.

She slowly sat up and looked at Yugito, having already guessed what she wanted to say.

"It's okay. Given our current situation, we don't really have any better options."

"Yugito, we're friends, and I'm willing to do this."
