Kiko looks at Kuroi with a shocked expression. "But that shouldn't even be possible with the current state his abilities are in right now!"
Kuroi smirks and extends his hand outwards, causing a hologram made of revenant to appear.
[Skill: Appraisal activated.]
"Naturally a user would die from the backlash of revenant that would be placed on their physical body, but Kodak's body is vastly more capable and durable than most."
Kiko and Kuroi look at the hologram showing Kodak's physical stats compared to the average revenant user.
[Kodak Kawanari: Physical stats]
Str: 155
Spd: 187
Dur: 165
Kiko then looks at the average revenant user's physical stats.
[Revenant user's physical stats]
Str: 120
Spd: 155
Dur: 110
Kiko looks at both of the holograms, her face overwhelmed by excitement. Cause of the sheer physical dominance Kodak had. "This... Is... Amazing!!"
Kiko continues rambling about Kodak's physical body and how he couldn't be beaten. "He's like a demon god!"
Kuroi interrupts her, tell Kiko. "If only it was that simple Kiko-San."
The holograms then start to change. Kodak's power only growing to about twice his normal, while the average revenant ranker was five times their normal power.
Kiki looked at them in shock and looked at Kuroi, wanting to question him about this. "Why is he weaker than the average when it comes to revenant!?" Her tone was surprised and angry.
Kuroi just stood there and shook his head. "His revenant fails to catch up to the enormous physical strength, causing Kodak's output to plummet. But if we progressively keep applying the same seals from before, training him to break those through control and output of revenant. Thus causing his growth to skyrocket."
Kodak continues looking from the rooftop of the school, the warm breeze felt calming and was really the only place he could relax.
He then began to wonder to himself about his kinetic energy technique. " Against Kenji my energy got stronger, but what's even weirder. Is the fact my energy feels more destructive lately.)"
He continues pondering until a loud ringing noise echoes throughout the school. "Aw crap I'm gonna be late!"
Kodak rushes down the stairs with speed, not wanting to get scolded again for being late.
"(Teach is gonna kick my ass if I miss another class.)"
A girl with white hair walks up the stairs while talking with Fumiko. "So who's your kinda of guy." The girl asked her.
Fumiko thinks for a moment, pondering about her type. "I don't know Masaki. I like a guy who's strong and shows what he truly loves."
Fumiko's mind then begins thinking about Kodak, the way he saved her. The way he truly love those dear to him.
"Look out Fumiko-Chan!!!" Kodak yelled out, while tripping down the stairs.
As she tries to moveout of the way, Masaki's eyes lock with Kodak's. Her pupil then become in the shape of a heart. As she watches Kodak fall down, he crashes straight into Fumiko.
"Ugh, my head hurts." Kodak groans in pain from the collision.
He move his hands, feeling the ground and pushing up. He looks down, his hands by the side of Fumiko's head.
She looks up at him and immediately gets flustered. "Kodak!?" Fumiko yells out in embarrassment.
Kodak's face turns bright red, causing him to curse by his surprising encounter from Fumiko. "Oh shit!!!"
He jumps away from Fumiko, his face looks away, while he trying to frantically apologize.
"I was trying to rush to class, but then you came up the stairs and I crashed into you. I'm so sorry-"
Fumiko shushes Kodak and giggling to herself. "It's okay. Really, I don't mind if it's you."
His blushing tones down a bit and looks over at Masaki. "Who's that?"
Fumiko looks over at Masaki. "Oh, she's a new student from Tokyo. Her name is Masaki Tsukiko."
Kodak looks over at her and his gaze sharpens. His revenant charges up, scanning Masaki for anything related to revenant.
[Basic Revenant Skill: Compass Activated strongly!]
The compass above Kodak's head then points at Masaki, his revenant aura shrouds his body immediately.
Masaki's skin crawls with goosebumps as Kodak was giving off a weird vibe.
His compass then makes a sound, almost like a notification on a smart phone.
[Compass has detected Revenant!]
Kodak's gaze pierces into Masaki, causing her to look away with an uncomfortable expression.
Fumiko quickly takes notices and shrouds her body in aura.
[Basic Revenant Skill: Blade Aura has activated strongly!]
[Basic Revenant Skill: Revenant Blade has activated strongly!]
A sword appears next to Fumiko as looks fiercely at Kodak. Her voice then speaks into his head. "(I know you found something out but leave it and I'll talk to you later.)"
Fumiko deactivates her revenant, walking right past Kodak. Her voice speaks into his mind once more, but the tone was more harsh and aggressive. "(I saw the rematch against Maeko. You did shitty. Your sloppy usage of revenant got Nao killed and Atsuo is still traumatized.)"
Kodak stood there, his eyes filled with the feeling helplessness. The fear of losing someone dear to him lingered still. "(I won't make the same mistake Fumiko.)" As she begins to walk down the hall Kodak speaks into her mind once more. "(You remember my family's killer right?)"
Fumiko's eyes turn back towards him as the next words spoke into her mind caused her to look at Kodak with anger. "(If you let him get away again I'll never forgive you!)"
He nods toward Fumiko, signifying his resolve to bring down this sick bastard.
He then looks back over at Masaki, deactivating his Aura & Compass techniques. A message then pops up in front of him, the message was almost like something from a video game.
[System has been unlocked, welcome Kodak Kawanari.]
Rank: Low A
Innate techniques: Kinetic Discharge.
Skills: Aura Applications, Compass, Revenant Cores. Bodily Shockwave.
Progression of Destructive battle arts: 0%
"Huh?" He looks at the message, trying to touch it with his hand. But any type of contact goes through it, like a transparent object.
"(Kiko, Kuroi. What's this message I'm seeing?)"
The two of them appear before Kodak in their astral forms. Kiko briefly takes a look at it. Her eyes suddenly widen in shock. "You unlocked the system!?" She looks back at Kodak with the same shocked expression plastered over her beautiful face.
Kodak scratches the back of his head. "(I don't know? It just popped up in front of me.)"
Kuroi then takes a look at the notification, browsing over it. He then looks at one of the stats that caught his eyes.
Destructive Battle Arts Progression: 0%
"What!?"
Kiko and Kodak look over at him. Curious about Kuroi's surprised reaction and response, Kodak looks over.
"(Destructive battel arts?! But you guys said I wasn't ready!)"
Kuroi shakes his head, letting out a stressful exhale. He looks over at Kiko and then back at Kodak. "The reason we said you weren't ready, was because we're scared that you'll never have a normal life again. Plus even if the system says you're ready, We've seen literal people being succumbing to their own destructive energy."
Kodak shakes his head and dismisses the system's message. "(It's a bunch of bullshit!)" He storms off from Kiko and Kuroi, rushing down the hallway of the school. "(I need to get to class.)" The avatars try to get Kodak's attention, not just in class. But throughout the day as Kodak's stubbornness continued to ignore them both.
Kiko calls out to him one last time. "Kodak!" but he ignores her regardless.
Kuroi grabs her by the shoulder. "He just needs space, plus this gives us some free time to come up with a training regimen for him. He still needs to learn about divine revenant, not to mention sovereign techniques, Domains, Realm expansion, and even supreme techniques. And that's not even mentioning destructive battle arts."
Kiko looks down at the ground. Tears fill her eyes and she turns around, tightly embracing Kuroi. "I just want him to live a proper life!"
Kuroi pats her head and gently kisses her head, hugging her tighter. "I know you do. Cause I want that for him."
[Tensai household 4:45 PM]
Kodak walks through the door, something felt off. He calls for anyone in house. "Aiya-San! Jin-San! Ashiro! Atsuo!"
[Basic Revenant Skill: Compass Activated!]
The compass appears above Kodak's head, his revenant spreads across the entire room.
[Compass has detected revenant below you!]
Kodak rushes to his room, pressing a button in closet, leading to the same basement he had been training in for the last couple weeks.
"WHO'S THERE!"
The compass goes even crazier, pointing to the basement.
[Compass has reached detection limit, Deactivating now.]
Kodak's suspicion only rises higher. A raging aura then clashes with his own. "(Who ever that is, their revenant is vastly stronger than mine.)
Kodak breathes deeply, calming his mind and steeling his resolve. His aura then reacts to the revenant, soaring higher.
[Skill: Radial Aura has activated strongly!]
The auras clash until, they both stop briefly.
Kodak rushes down the steps, charging up kinetic energy.
[Innate technique: Kinetic charge is gathering energy!]
[Skill: Bodily Shockwave is combining with Kinetic Charge!]
Kodak rushes down the basement with his body pulsing with kinetic energy.
[Kinetic Charge is ready!]
Jumping down the basement, Kodak rushes with his revenant surging through the room. The silhouette of a man appears behind him. He slams Kodak to the ground, putting him in a leg lock. Kodak then feels his attacker put their knee on his other leg, fully trapping. He struggles to move, trying to breaking to break free. "LET GO!"
[Warning! You'll break your leg if you move anymore!]
He scoffs at the warning of the system. "(Who gives a shit!)"
Kodak raises his hand, thinking back to what Kenji did with his sword and the power it had.
Suddenly a message from the system appears and Kodak smirks at it.
[Innate technique has leveled up!]
[Kinetic Charge LVL0 - LVL1]
[Destructive battle arts progression: 2%]
[New Skill learned: Kinetic Burst!]
Kodak chants, "Burst!" He feels the kinetic energy gather to his raised hand and smirks at his opponent.
His face then goes pale as he finally gets a look at the attacker's face.
"Jin-San!?"
His eyes were glitching and his face had a sadistic look on it, and the energy he was emanating was creepy. Almost like he was being controlled.
[3 hours earlier...]
Satsujin pulls his house keys out of his pockets. Pushing the key and turning the lock to open the door, as he walks through the door Jashi looks at Satsujin with intense focus.
"Jashi what the fuck are you doing?" No answer from Jashi. Satsujin rolled his eyes, walking to kitchen and grabbing an energy drink.
He glances back over at Jashi, but he was gone and he felt his skin crawling with goosebumps. "(He's acting weirder than usual.)"
Jashi enters Satsujin's mindscape, thinking about the way he saw Kurai in his final moments before dying a long and undeserving death.
"(It's not fair. It's not just fair!)" The same words replayed in his over and over, almost like a virus corrupting a computer.
His thoughts raced as the same memory of Kurai replayed in his mind. It felt mind-numbing and tortuous.
It was unbearable and he wanted it to end. A message in popped up in front of him.
[Glitching Code is beginning to corrupt you!]
His mind becomes scrambled, it was almost like the system was begging for him to go insane.
Jashi ran his hands through his hair, pulling it harshly and aggressively.
"JUST END THIS!!!"
Another message from the system pops up.
[Glitching Code has fully coprrupted you!]
[Mania Mode activated]
Jashi's vision starts to fade to red as he remembered what "Mania Mode" was.
"I forgot this feeling, A type of panic attack that unleashes the darkest depths of your emotions. While your techniques are unuseable, your power is multiple multiple times over."
Satsujin takes bite of an apple, a sour expression spreads across his face immediately. He looks at the apple, it was mushy and gross.
"Blegh"
He tosses the apple away before spitting the bits of apple left in his mouth in the trash.
"Disgusting." He said expressing his disgust.
A violent surge of anger overcomes his body, and memories that he didn't know
"KURAI!"
"Don't do it for me."
"Just rest and forgive them."
Satsujin holds his head in pain. Why do he feel this pain, it wasn't his. Was it jashi's pain?
He then feels his eyes starting to crying and his vision starts glitching like a computer with a corrupted motherboard.
Satsujin then looks down seeing a black red haired boy bleeding out, and the blood of said boy covering his hands. "(What the fuck is happening to me!?)"
He stumbles downstairs and his head begins to ache even more.
Words echo in his mind, repeating over and over.
"Hate, kill them all. Kill the Kawanari boy. It's his fault."
Jashi then remembers why he killed that leader back at his village. His thoughts echo through both his and Satsujin's mind.
Echoing like a shitty dream.
"His fault, kill the descendants. Kill the Kawanaris."
Satsujin walks through the house, holding his head in pain. He stumbles into Kodak's room, looking at the blade placed on the wall. It's dark blue blade gleaming from the sunshine bouncing off it's pristine steel.
Jashi then looks at the blade from the mindscape, his eyes then go completely red with rage. It couldn't be. It can't be.
"Why does he have that goddamn blade!!!"
Jashi yells with his voice ringing throughout the mindscape and even Satsujin's mind as well. "AHH!!"
His anger only increased as he looked at the blade even further. "THEY KEPT THE BLADE OF THAT FUCKING MURDERER!?"
Satsujin feels his vision getting fuzzy as he walks into Kodak's closet. He then notices the button on the wall. "(This bastard is trying something I need to get to the basement before he does something rash!)"
His vision then goes black.
Jashi stands up in the mindscape and starts laughing like a damn maniac. He then briefly walks down the steps.
"Looks like I finally took over this bastard's body. I'll fight the Kawanari to get a sense of his strength and if he's too weak. I'll just wait till the bitch dies her pointless death."
A grin spreads across Jashi's face as he fully control Satsujin's body.
