Chapter 6

James became increasingly frustrated. He began to forcefully strike the door with his feet.

The warped cellar entrance widened slightly, releasing a nauseating odor.

A maid spoke with a quivering voice: "The smell is reminiscent of... a decaying corpse!"

The two other siblings also drew near, filled with anger,

"What decaying corpse? She obviously escaped long ago and simply tossed a dead rodent in there to deceive us!"

"Rachel Harper, do you truly believe we're so easily fooled?"

The three brothers' impatience grew, and they all began kicking the door simultaneously. The entire cellar entryway shuddered once more.

With a resounding crash, the door flew open. An even more pungent odor emerged as the small, dark cellar was revealed to everyone.

Sunlight streamed in, chasing away the darkness within.

I edged closer to examine what was my own lifeless body.
