"Nolan, aren't you being a bit childish? It's just an argument, did you really have to run away from home? Kael is right here, I'll have him explain everything to you!"
Vivienne quickly shot Kael a meaningful glance, and he spoke up, "Bro, you've got it all wrong. Hugging and kissing are just common courtesies abroad. You've never been out of the country, so you wouldn't understand."
"You don't know how much your girl cares about you. She was distracted all day at work today."
"If I had wanted something to happen with her, it would have happened long ago. Who are you to get in the way? She's been looking after me like a real sister these past few years. We're just really close, that's why I hugged her."
After Kael finished explaining, Vivienne looked at me with a haughty expression: "Nolan, both of us involved are right here. Now do you believe us?"
I was quite surprised. I didn't know if Vivienne was genuinely stupid or just pretending to be.
Did she really foolishly believe that Kael was here to help patch things up between us?
I thought my heart had already become indifferent, but facing Kael's provocation, I still couldn't resist the urge to punch him!
But I had to consider reality. My child had already lost their mother.
I couldn't let them lose their father too.I restrained my anger, saying nothing as I moved to walk around the two of them. Suddenly, Kael grabbed my hand from behind.
If it weren't for his appearance, I think my family wouldn't have fallen apart.
So I violently shook off his hand, causing him to fall to the ground as if I'd punched him hard.
Vivienne quickly helped him up, loudly demanding, "Nolan! Have you lost your mind? How could you hit Kael? Talk about biting the hand that feeds you! Apologize to him right now!"
Before I could speak, Kael turned and took Vivienne's hand, saying, "Senior, don't blame your brother-in-law. He's just upset. This is all my fault. If I hadn't hugged you then, none of this would have happened."
"Kael, stop it. I'm already so grateful you came to explain for me. Besides, this isn't your fault. If he hadn't been bored enough to take the kids to the airport, he wouldn't have seen anything, and none of this drama would have happened!"
I let out a cold laugh and asked, "I see, so this has somehow become my fault now."
"Isn't it? We've always had our roles - I work outside the home, you take care of things inside."Just take care of your little patch at home, and that's enough. Why are you trying to give me surprises? Don't you think that's childish? Alright Nolan, let's not talk about that right now. You need to apologize to him first!"
I remained silent. Kael then said to me, "Bro-in-law, there's no need for an apology. You've already hit him, so you must have vented your anger, right? Don't fight with my sister anymore. Let's just go home quickly."
The two of them, singing in harmony, quietly transformed me from the plaintiff into the defendant.
For the first time, I felt disgusted with someone both psychologically and physically. I didn't want to explain, nor did I want to look at them for another second.
Grabbing my luggage, I resolutely left Vivienne's house.
