Chapter 6

"Please don't punish me if you kick me out, but I won't accept blame for her behavior!"

My words enraged my father to the point where he visibly trembled with anger, and he instantly raised his hand to strike me again.

"Ungrateful brat, I've wasted so much time raising you!"

The police quickly intervened, explaining, "You're mistaken, ma'am. This young lady didn't call us. She's not involved in this matter."

My mother ignored the officers' statement. She stubbornly asked, "If not her, then who? Who else would betray us?"

"She's always been envious of her sister, never satisfied with anything. She acts like we owe her something!"

"Kathy, I'm telling you now—you're no longer part of this family! Get out of our house this instant!"

At that point, Kathy chimed in, "Exactly! I had nothing to do with the drugs. She's the one who gave the medicine to Mr. Reed, how can you blame me? I've been kind enough to take the fall for her, and now she's showing no appreciation!"
