Chester's assistant gave Kathy a peculiar look. "I apologize, miss, but you're mistaken. I'm here for Miss Julia."
These words left Kathy, her parents, and me in disbelief. Had Chester uncovered the truth about that evening?
A chill ran through me as I stuttered, "What? Collect me? I wasn't informed of this."
"You must have the wrong individual. I've never encountered Mr. Reed..."
Kathy, unaware of the night's occurrences, turned scarlet with anger. "You flirt! I suspected you were trying to charm Mr. Reed! You brazen woman!"
Desperate, she reached for the assistant, her voice filled with urgency.
"There must be a mistake! Mr. Reed just messaged me saying he'd send someone for me. My sister is jealous and called the authorities with a false report. Please help me clarify this to them?"
"That poisoning incident—my sister did it, not me!"
Her parents became more agitated and chimed in.
