Breakfast

Phoenix:

"We need somewhere we can practice your magic," Pru says.

Her and Noah had arrived the next day for breakfast. My mom insisted.

I hadn't shown Raph or talked to anyone about the box that my Dad had given me, and I wasn't ready to tell them what he saw that night, either.

It was something I would cross another day.

"What do you mean?" I ask.

Mom is bringing platters full of various foods to the table. I'm practically drooling at the sight of it all.

I had missed my moms cooking as one often does when they go out on their own.

The veggie omlets were basically whispering sweet nothings to me.

We all dish up. I notice that Pru is very courteous in that she doesn't speak or address anyone while everyone is trying to find their place at the table, pass around platters of food, and dish up.

After we finally get settled in, she looks up at me.

"Your internal flame, we need a safe space to practice," she says.
