Marion's involvement came to an end following the revelation of her illicit relationship.

As for myself, I relocated overseas and began employment at my father's enterprise, which produces polymer manufacturing equipment. I immersed myself in work, possibly as a means to cope with my emotional distress.

The workload here was less demanding compared to my home country, and given my years of experience, I adapted quickly. I made consistent advancements and achieved minor successes more rapidly than anticipated.

My father expressed satisfaction with my progress and conveyed his confidence in my ability to lead the company in the future.

During this period, I formed new connections, including an encounter with a particular gentleman.

Coincidentally, he too was a chemistry professor. His name was Oliver Everstone. I couldn't help but chuckle when I first heard his unique name.

A quarter of a year after our initial meeting, Oliver confessed his feelings for me.
