Chapter 4

Two weeks passed in the blink of an eye.

The wedding day arrived.

Numerous visitors showed up.

Since both Charlotte's and my parents had passed away, her family members organized the ceremony.

She dragged me to the entrance to welcome the guests.

However, everyone noticed that Charlotte and Ethan were dressed in matching wedding attire, while I wore a simple suit.

They cast disapproving glances at me, yet offered congratulations: "Best wishes for a lasting and joyous union, with many offspring."

Before I could respond, Ethan stepped in front of me to express appreciation: "We're grateful, please enter and make yourselves comfortable."

Tension filled the air, and Charlotte turned to glare at him, silently mouthing: "Ethan, I agreed to this arrangement with you first. If you overstep again, leave immediately."

Ethan quickly apologized, claiming it was a momentary lapse and wouldn't happen again.

Yet he shot me a triumphant look, reveling in her leniency towards him.

I remained silent.

Charlotte, concerned about my well-being, assuming I was unwell, had someone escort me upstairs to rest.

I had barely settled when the music shifted to a more celebratory tune. The attendant who was supposed to stay with me had gone to join the festivities.

I exited the room, stood by the window, and observed the grand ceremony below.

The venue was adorned with beautiful decorations, flower girls spreading petals to welcome the bride in her white dress.

A chopper circled above, unfurling an enormous banner, eliciting cheers from the crowd.

The banner showcased Charlotte and Ethan's wedding photo, complete with their names.

The host didn't need a microphone, simply gesturing towards the giant display.

All eyes turned to see a montage of their photos, depicting sweet and joyous moments.

As the slideshow concluded, the marriage vows silently appeared, following the wedding proceedings.

Charlotte's eyes glistened with tears as she silently mouthed "I do."

She offered her hand, allowing Ethan to slide the wedding band onto her finger.

They shared a quick kiss.

The guests below clapped enthusiastically, their faces beaming with happiness, yet no one spoke.

Despite anticipating this, I couldn't help but clench my fists.

The woman who claimed to love me most was marrying another man right before my eyes.

Once their ceremony concluded, Ethan, still not satisfied, grabbed the microphone, acting as the emcee.

He spotted me observing from the window, flashed a mischievous grin, and loudly announced: "Let's welcome the groom."

At this, everyone looked up and finally realized I had been watching the entire time.

Charlotte panicked momentarily but quickly remembered I couldn't see.

She sighed with relief and scolded: "Where is everyone? How could you leave the groom alone by the window, it's dangerous. Quickly, help him!"

The servants who had been engrossed in the spectacle moved towards me.

But I faced the breeze, extended my arms, and jumped from the ten-story building, headfirst.
