Chapter 2

The System promptly responded: "Dear Host, as you've missed the optimal moment to depart this realm, you must now perish in a tragic manner to exit."

I agreed without hesitation.

Even though that world held nothing worth recalling.

I had no desire to see Charlotte's insincere expression again.

The System notified me that the return would occur in a fortnight.

I noted the timing's peculiar coincidence.

Then Charlotte spoke with concern: "If the timepiece isn't to your liking, I'll find an alternative gift."

Another facade?

I shook my head and refused: "It's unnecessary, I require nothing."

Upon hearing this, Charlotte felt a pang in her chest. She sensed something amiss, feeling as though I was referring to more than just the watch.

She embraced me tighter, yearning for my warmth.

Ethan observed, his eyes tinged with jealousy, and reminded: "Ms. Charlotte, the personnel have been waiting extensively. We'll be tardy if we don't depart now."

Charlotte reluctantly released me, gathered her things, and prepared to escort me for discharge.

Yet while conversing and reassuring me, she continued packing with one hand, while her other hand intertwined with Ethan's.

I turned my gaze numbly towards the window.

Evidently, Charlotte's heart was capacious enough to accommodate two individuals.

The journey by car was hushed.

Owing to my condition, Charlotte had to arrange the wedding in her villa's cellar.

Though the ceremony was merely outlined, it displayed Charlotte's dedication.

The on-site staff awaited, guiding us through the proceedings.

Charlotte led me onto the platform, with Ethan positioned centrally, acting as the officiant with a microphone.

"Ethan Anderson, do you accept Charlotte as your spouse, in good times and bad..."

He completed the vows fervently, waiting alongside everyone for my "I do."

But I remained mute.

Charlotte couldn't resist tugging my attire twice, and just as the staff was about to prompt me.

The stage suddenly gave way.

"Look out!"

Charlotte cried, pushing me towards the collapsing structure, while she rushed to shield Ethan.

I was struck, my head bleeding, but Ethan emerged unharmed.

Ethan, witnessing Charlotte's life-saving action for him, couldn't contain himself and exclaimed: "It's clear you love me more, why won't you grant me another opportunity?"
