Chapter 3

Drowsiness overwhelmed me, and I was on the verge of slumber. Adam assumed I had already drifted off. Just then, his phone buzzed. He swiftly silenced it and called out to me twice. Seeing no response, he answered the call.

"You're so naughty. You ripped my underwear. Now, get me a replacement immediately."

"I'm on my way," Adam replied. He glanced down at me, gently caressed my cheek, then rose and departed.

I clutched the sheets tightly as tears began to flow. Kelly hadn't left after all. Had Adam been keeping her at home this entire time?

I couldn't bear to witness this betrayal. I tried to console myself. It's okay, I'd be gone in a week and cut all ties with him thereafter.

The following morning, I awoke to find Adam had prepared an elaborate breakfast. He'd made all my favorite pastries and side dishes. He even attempted to feed me.

"Darling, open up. Let me feed you," he coaxed.

Kelly, seated across from us, frowned in displeasure.

Adam sent her a message right in front of me: [I'll make it up to you later. Don't cause a scene in front of Helena. I'll give you anything you want.]

Kelly's mood shifted instantly. She cast a disdainful look my way, then stood and left the table. As she passed Adam, she ran her fingers along his pants before exiting.

I ignored Adam's attempts to feed me, instead using my own chopsticks to select different food items. Adam, thinking I was still upset, insisted on taking me out after we finished eating.

Adam rented a yacht and invited numerous friends, claiming it was for my grand birthday celebration. Throughout the journey, he held my hand firmly, worried I might stumble, and reminisced about our happy memories.

I remained silent, my heart filled with irony and sorrow. I once believed we'd grow old together, never parting, but it had all been a farce. Adam craved excitement and younger companions. He'd forgotten our wedding vows.

Boarding the yacht, we walked a path strewn with delicate rose petals. Adam knew I disliked roses, but Kelly adored them. Clearly, these were for her benefit. How ironic that this supposed birthday celebration was likely just another deception.

"Helena, we held our wedding here too, broadcasting it worldwide to show everyone how much I, Adam, love you," Adam reminisced, his voice thick with emotion as he shed a tear.

He guided my finger to touch his tears. Such sincere crying would typically indicate deep love. If he hadn't been unfaithful, I might have embraced him, moved to tears myself. He had loved me once, but now his affections were divided with Kelly.

I withdrew my hand, my expression impassive. Adam, lost in thought, noticed my lack of reaction and briefly looked hurt. But within seconds, his eyes lit up as he gazed towards the deck.

Kelly appeared, wearing a provocative dress Adam had specially ordered. The outfit lent her an air of sophistication, in stark contrast to my plain attire. She outshone me completely.

Kelly approached with a smile, "Madam, happy birthday."

She then moved to Adam's side, boldly grasping his hand in full view of everyone.

"Mr. Griffin, everything's set. I'll start the countdown from three."
