Chapter 36

Blake's POV

I was feeling ecstatic that I got a chance to spend time with Brielle and her family. Her folks were nice people, her grandmother especially. She looked like she was really interested in my relationship with Brielle. Although we can't define it right now, all we can say is we are' just friends '. We had dinner and her grandmother kept asking me questions about myself and my family.

I told her all there was to know without telling her that I was the Alpha of the land. She would probably think I am crazy anyway. There was no need to mention that part for now.

" Thank you for the food. It was really delicious," I sat, putting down the cutlery and wiping my mouth with the cloth.

" I am glad you liked it dear." She smiled, looking happy. Arielle blushed as she kept stealing glances at me.

We all finished having dinner and Brielle and her grandmother got up to clear the table, but I stopped them.

" Grandmother, can I please help Brielle with the dishes? Please allow me to. It's the least I can do after you offered such a nice meal," I said, putting on my killer smile.

" Oh dear! You are such a well-mannered child, but you are our guest. How can I let you do the dishes?"

" Please, I insist. I don't mind."

" Alright then. I will allow it this once."

I got up and took the plates and cutlery with Brielle helping me. We went into the kitchen and put them in the sink.

" You know you shouldn't have offered to do the dishes. I can do them by myself."

I shook my head. " Don't worry about me. I wanted to do something and this is the only thing I can do now. It's no problem. I promise."

Brielle smiled. " Do you even know how to do dishes?" She asks skeptically.

I scratched the back of my head in embarrassment.

" Uh..no. Not really. Actually, I don't. But I am sure I can do it. How hard can it be?"

I have never washed dishes or done any chores, but I am sure that I can do it if I want.

" You are right. It's not hard. I'll show you."

With that, we started working. She scraped the remains off the plates and handed them to me. She told me that I would rinse and put them away as she washed using a sponge. I watched her wash as I eagerly waited for my turn to do my part.

" Here," she said, giving me the washing plate.

It almost slipped out of my hand, but Brielle caught it, saving my ass.

I sighed in great relief. That would have been embarrassing after insisting I wanted to do this.

" Don't worry. It happens when you are doing it for the first time."

Brielle smiled, taking my breath away. Her smile felt like a reward for my stupid mistake. It was worth it.

She took my hand, making my senses jolt awake, and put the plate in my hand so it didn't slip this time. I never knew that something as trivial as washing dishes could be fun. I had fun learning how to do it. We sometimes got lost at the moment and played with the water. I splashed the soapy dish on water and made too much foam.

I then scooped the foam and blew it on Brielle, who was taken aback, but then did the same to me. Through the fun, we ended up managing to complete the task.

Walking out of the kitchen, we went back to the living room where her grandparents were sitting close to each other. Her grandmother was laying her head on her husband's shoulder as they watched the television.

I imagined them to be Brielle and me in the future. Although she doesn't understand it, I already know that Brielle is the one for me and I want to grow old with her.

I snapped out of my thoughts and realized that I had overstayed. I didn't want to interrupt her grandparents, so I told Brielle to walk me out. We went out of the house as stealthily as we could. As we walked to the gate, I took the opportunity to hold hands with Brielle. She looked confused, but she didn't reject my advances. She just shyly evaded my gaze.

We stopped in front of my car, but I didn't let go of my hand. I sighed, looking at the night sky and said," I wish I didn't have to leave. I haven't spent enough time with you as I wanted."

" Don't worry. If you come to school tomorrow, then we can have lunch together," she said suggestively.

" I am afraid lunchtime isn't enough time to spend together. I wish I would be with you forever," I said, voicing my thoughts without realizing it. My eyes widened upon registering that I had said my thoughts out loud.

Her eyes widened too. She didn't say anything and just stared at me. I bashed my head in my thoughts for not being careful with what I said. I really don't want to scare her. I promised to be as patient as I could ever be with her. My world is different from hers and that already drives me crazy enough. I swallowed hard, preparing myself to correct my mistake, but then something unexpected happened.

Brielle grabbed my face and placed a soft kiss on my lips. I felt my heart skip a beat. I was shocked by her action, but I didn't even get enough time to react.

" Good night," she said, ran back to her house, and left me standing in a daze.

She stopped and briefly turned back to look at me. She smiled shyly and went inside. I slowly touched my lips, still feeling the sensation of her kiss. Soon a smile came to my face.

Perhaps I wasn't mistaken in what I said. Does this kiss say that she feels the same way I do? I felt like we took a huge leap in this relationship. Things were looking up. Soon enough, I might be able to claim her as my mate and Luna. I went back home with a permanent smile on my face.
