Chapter 47

Blake's POV

It has been a few days since I last saw Brielle. I have been going crazy without knowing where she is. I tried calling her. I left her tons of missed calls and messages. When I went to look for her at her place, I was told that she had run away on her own. I asked them for a reason, and they were unwilling to divulge it. It was the first time I had met Brielle's parents. Brielle was the spitting image of her mother. When I saw her, I almost thought it was Brielle. Her father is a werewolf. I could sense it. I found it strange. I thought Brielle was just a human. Her parents asked who Brielle was. I told them I was a close friend who was worried about her. They looked shocked like they didn't expect her to have a friend, but then again, Brielle doesn't have friends, so it's not a surprise.

I wish we had met in different circumstances and I would have been properly able to introduce myself. Everyone was worried about Brielle. I left them earlier, but I couldn't take them anymore. I needed to know what was going on so that I could help find her. I can't track her now. It doesn't help that I didn't mark her, or it would have been a piece of cake to find out where she went.

I stood in front of her place again. I was going to convince them to help me find her. I knocked on the door and after a few seconds the door was opened and his mother appeared. It's still crazy how striking of a resemblance Brielle and her mother have. They could pass off as twins if people didn't pay too much attention.

" Oh, it's you again." I could sense a hint of disappointment as she tried to let it show on her face.

" Yes, it's me. I am sorry to intrude, but it's been long since Brielle ran away, and I want to help." I was dead serious. I showed her that I was not playing around.

" Alright. Come in," she said and moved out of the way to let me inside. I went inside the house to find Brielle's folks and her parents gathered in the living room with gloomy expressions. I needed to know more about what transpired and led to Brielle running away, but I didn't know to ask them that question without sounding like I was intruding. They don't know what kind of relationship Brielle and I share. How do I even begin to explain it to them?

" Blake? What are you doing here? Have you heard anything about Brielle?" Her grandmother asked as soon as she saw me. I regretfully shook my head.

" No mam. I have tried to call her, but she isn't picking up my calls. I came here to offer my help to find her. To do that, you will have to tell me what happened before she ran away.

Everyone tensed as I said that and her grandmother looked away.

The man who I figured was her father got up and faced me. He had a blank, unwelcoming expression on his face.

" I am sorry, but why should we tell you that? Who are you and what are you to my daughter?" I could sense his wolf at bay. He's a werewolf, but not one of our pack and that is why he didn't realize that I was an Alpha. Usually, Ryker would never allow that tone, but we recognize that he is the father of our mate, and the moment he is agitated about the disappearance of his daughter.

I looked around and turned to look Brielle's father straight in the eyes and briefly let Ryker come through and turned my eye-color to his-which caught him off guard.

I made sure no one else saw it.

" Look, sir. I am sure you more than anyone know and understand what is going on." I told him in a cryptic manner that only he could understand.

" I can find Brielle, but I won't be able to do so if I don't have any clue."

Her father sighed in defeat and sat back down.

" I'm not sure if I should be telling you this since it's a family matter, but if you say you will help us find her, then I guess you have no other option."

I sat down and listened to him tell me everything that happened before Brielle's disappearance.

It was not my place to judge as I could somehow relate to his story. He chose to settle with someone who was not his mate but, later on, had a change of heart when he met his current mate. It's similar to my story with Brielle and Rea, but his is much more complicated. I guess that is the reason why Brielle is not a wolf, like he is. My Brielle must be so heartbroken.

Her mother started crying. I could only imagine in what state Brielle must be in. Brielle's father got up to comfort him, but she resisted and pushed him away before running up the stairs. I could see the sorrow in his eyes. He turned back to me and said," There is something else that I didn't tell you."

" What is it?"

" Brielle is in danger. Some people are after her and I don't know why."

Oh hell no. Ryker was on alert and tried to fight for control, but I managed to suppress him. No way in hell was I going to allow anything to happen to her. She is upset and hurt, but she shouldn't have run away if someone was looking to harm her. Right, she is exposed and in danger but nothing has happened to her, which means I can still get to her. Even if I had not marked her yet, I could sense that something bad had happened to her.

I knew where to start looking for her and, hopefully, she is where I think she is.
