Brielle's POV
I got to school ready to see Blake. I was really hoping he would come but to my disappointment he was no where to be found. Strangely, the atmosphere in school had a shift. People where whispering in corners about something I couldn't hear. Now was the time friends would come in handy. I would be getting all the gossip. I was so curious about what was going on but I didn't want to ask. I would have to talk to someone to do that and I don't like it.
Soon, people started gossiping but this time I seemed to be the subject. They were not really subtle about it. They would would stare at me or point at me and that's when I knew I was being talked about. It was starting to make me nervous. I even thought that maybe I had something on my face. Wouldn't they be laughing if that was there case? Still, I had to check so I ran to the bathroom to check myself in the mirror just to be safe.
I was totally fine. Nothing on my face or out of place. So, they were talking about something else. I couldn't take the curiousity and I was about to ask one of the student about was going on but it turned out I didn't need to.
I was walking when I heard people in a classroom talking. What really had me halting was the mention of Blake's name.
" I can't believe Mia's gone. I wonder how the Alpha is holding up. The sever of the twin bond must be crazy painful. It is just as painful as a mate bond severing."
I stood there confused, wondering if maybe I had misheard what they were saying.
" What is worse is we don't even know what really happened to her. There has not been an attack on the pack in decades. No rogues in sight. So we don't really know what or who killed Mia," they continued.
Mia is dead? Mia? Blake's twin sister, Mia? Is it true? What in the world is going on? What, how, when did it happen? So many questions and I didn't have anyone to ask. No, I'll just ask them. I have to know.
Without thinking, I budge into the classroom and walked toward the guy who was just talking. There were 3 guys. All of them looked like athletes, tall and built. I would usually feel intimidated in front of their kind but right now I could careless about myself. All I wanted to know was if what they said was true or not.
" What did you say. Who was killed," I asked.
3 of them looked taken aback but I was impatiently waiting for an answer.
" Spit it out already!" I snapped. I didn't have time for this.
" What are you talking about. Were you eavesdropping on us?"
" That doesn't matter okay. Just tell me what you just said. Is it true or not?"
" Hey, is she not the girl who is always with the Alpha? How come you don't know whats going on?" says one of the guys. I ignored his little insight.
" Well, no one really knows yet but I guess I can tell you," says the one I was looking at for answers.
" Mia, the Alpha's sister was attacked. She was badly injured and she succumbed to her injuries and died. It's a a tragic moment for the family and the whole pack but especially the Alpha. He fell unconscious after his sister died and he has not woken up."
Oh my goodness. Everything started to make sense. The bad feeling I had. Him not responding my calls and texts. This was the reason. I can't believe something like happened and I didng know. I felt so bad but most importantly I don't know what to do from here on. What do I do. All I know now is that I need to be by his side. He needs me. He has been there for me whenever I needed someone. It's my turn to do the same but will I be off any help?
I turned away from them to leave but I stopped in my tracks. I want to go to Blake's place but I don't remember the way.
I looked back at the guys.
" So, can you take me there? To the pack house. Now."
Long story short, I forced them to take me to the pack house. I can't fathom what Blake and his family must be going through. I don't know much about his sister but it can't be easy for him to lose her. I don't know what I'll say to him that will make him feel better. I'll just stay by his side. That's the best I can do.
Once we got to the pack house I could properly see it now. It was a big mansion. I was starting to get cold feet. What will I even say to his family. I have only met his mother and it was not in the best of circumstances. No one else from school is here. I am the only from school who is here besides his fellow pack members. I'm overthinking this. I just need to say I am here for Blake. I am sure that is more than enough.
" Alright. Go ahead inside. Our job is done."
The 3 boys left me at the entrance. I stood there for more than 5 minutes contemplating my next actions. I was going inside. I reached my hand to ring the door bell but the door was opened. I was startled. A girl my age stood on the other side looking as confused as I was.
" Hello there. Can I help you with something?" the girl says.
" H-Hello. I-I came to see the Alpha. I am one of his classmates."
She steeped closer to me and started sniffing me like a dog. Isn't she technically one though?
" You are not a werewolf and I haven't seen you around here before."
" I know. I just came to offer my condolences."
" I guess travel fast," she says more to herself and sighs.
" You can go inside. The Alpha is unconscious at the moment but you can meet his parents."
I guess I don't come across as a threat to her. I thought for sure she would be hostile and grill me with a ton of questions. That was easy. Wait? Did she she just say, meet the parents? Again I'll be meeting them on unpleasant circumstances. Things were supposed to be different. Blake was supposed to be the one bringing me to see his parents. I suppose both of our experiences will be ruined as Blake has met my parents after I ran away.
Anyway, enough about that. I need to stand here like a creeper and go inside. I walked inside and I could just feel a chill and tension in the house. I found my way to the living room where I found Blake's parents. They were sitting on the couch where Blake's father was holding his wife in his arms as she sniffled and whimpered. I felt like I was invading as I stood frozen over the other side of the room.
Blake's father was holding to his wife as if she would disappear if he let go. My heart ached. Death is such a cruel thing. After a little while they seemed to notice my presence.
Blake's mother recognized me right away. She moved away from her husband's embraced, wiping away her tears. She was a mess. Her face was swollen and her eyes were red from the crying. I felt sorry for her. I can't imagine what she must be going through. I can't relate to her pain.
" Oh dear, it's you?" She says, genuinely surprised. I forced a smile on my face which for sure looked awkward.
" Hello to you, Mr and Mrs Grayson. I'm sorry for coming here suddenly."
" It's okay dear. You are welcome to come any time."
She smiled at me. She was such a kind woman. She welcomed me into her home and put aside her pain for a moment.
" I-I heard the news," I say looking into her eyes.
Saddness seeped through her and I went and took her hands in mine. She was like a mother to me now and I would hate to see her so said. This pain is something to go through so she can overcoms it.
" My deepest condolences to you. I didn't get to meet you daughter but I am sure she was a good person."
" Thank you for saying that dear. It's so kind of you. Uh, I forgot. This is my husband and Blake's father," she says.
I look over to Blake's father. Joe that I was looking at him properly, it felt like I was looking at an older version of Blake. No doubt about it. They are father and son.
" Nice to mee to meet you sir. My name is Brielle Johnson and I am uh, Blake's friend."
Friend? Really now? I groaned inwardly.
Blake's father smiled. A heartwarming smile. The smile I would like to see on Blake's face.
" Nice to officially meet you Brielle. Honestly, my wife has been telling me about about you a lot. All good things including how you have captured our son's heart."
I was blushing. I couldn't control myself. They already know about Blake and I?
" I am glad to meet you, young lady. I wish it was under better circumstances. We would have been prepared to welcome you into our home."
Sadness overtook his features. With the way he looks and his strong build, he is intimidating at first time but I guess once you get to know him he is different, just like Blake. I wanted tu assure both of them that they shouldn't concern about me as I am to support them. I will just show them instead.
After talking a little, Blake's father excused himself and I was left with his mother. She offered me tea and both of us sat down for a chat. I offered her an ear while she talked to me about her daughter. She even took out photo album to show me pictures of Blake, Mia and the rest of the family. It was fun watching all of Blake's captured embarrassing moments. I would surely tease him about them in the future.
Emily, as she said her name was, looked better while talking and reminiscing about the past and good times with her daughter. I was glad I could help her feel better. After chatting, I asked her to take me to Blake's room. On the way, I textedy mother telling her I would not be coming back today. I was planned to give them a call and try to explain the situation but right now, I need to be with Blake.
We got to his room and there he was laying in the middle of a king sized bed covered in a black sating sheet. He was sleeping peacefully but his face was pale as a sheet.
" I'll leave you here. Please, feel at home. Call me when you need anything or if he wakes up."
With that, Emily closed the door leaving Blake and I. I walked closer to the bed and stared at him. It pained me to see him this way. I want to see him awake and full of life. I want to see him happy with a genuine smile. He deserves to be happy.
