[Asura], [Valkyrie], and [Disciple of Disaster].
Among these three unique classes, Lyle's initial focus was on the [Disciple of Disaster].
Mare, being a Dark Elf, a subspecies of humanity, had no racial-specific classes; all of his were level 100 classes. This meant that the [Disciple of Disaster] did not require any racial prerequisites.
Lyle had gathered extensive information about Mare's classes. With the "Genius" class providing a safety net, he theorized that it might only take the sacrifice of one or two mid-tier classes to unlock the unique [Disciple of Disaster].
[Asura], a unique class held by Cocytus, intrigued Lyle. From what little he could glean from Cocytus's stats, there seemed to be no direct connection between this class and Cocytus's broader class structure. Lyle speculated that [Asura] might require specific items or artifacts for unlocking.
Then there was [Valkyrie].
In both the anime and the novels, only two characters were known to possess this class: Shalltear and Certain Death. Both were women.
This led Lyle to theorize that [Valkyrie] might be a female-exclusive class.
Armed with this insight, Lyle initially set his sights on the [Disciple of Disaster]. However, the recent introduction of the "Priestess" role presented him with the possibility of unlocking a "female-character-only buff."
Thus, he now considered the potential of acquiring the [Valkyrie] class.
"Shalltear's [Valkyrie] class is far more straightforward than Mare's [Disciple of Disaster] in terms of class structure," Lyle muttered, recalling every detail about Shalltear's character while sketching diagrams on the ground.
As one of the most frequently appearing characters in both the anime and novels (apart from Ainz), Shalltear's information was relatively well-documented.
Her level distribution was as follows:
Racial Levels: 20Lv + Class Levels: 80Lv = Total Levels: 100Lv
Her class list included:
Valkyrie: Lance (5Lv) Cursed Knight (5Lv) Cleric (10Lv)
Additionally, in the novels, two more classes were mentioned: Blood Drinker and Cursed Caster.
Lyle was confident that these two additional classes were advanced-tier classes, for several reasons:
The "Blood Pool" skill tied to the Blood Drinker class was vividly showcased in Shalltear's battle against Ainz. The Cursed Caster class was noted for its negative effects, causing Shalltear to fall into a frenzy upon contact with blood.
In one anime scene, Shalltear went berserk after attacking humans, a direct result of the Cursed Sorcerer class. Although the anime did not explicitly highlight this, players familiar with Overlord would know that classes with such drawbacks were often exceptionally powerful, using penalties to balance their strengths.
Shalltear's Known Classes Valkyrie/Lancer (5Lv) Cursed Knight (5Lv) Cleric (10Lv) Blood Drinker (5Lv) Cursed Caster (5Lv)
This totaled 25 levels, leaving 55 levels unaccounted for.
Lyle felt the thrill of solving a puzzle.
"I'm a science student," he chuckled, diving into problem-solving mode. He circled two key elements on his diagram.
First, he set aside the [Valkyrie] class for now, as it required deeper understanding. Similarly, Cleric, being a basic class, was less critical for immediate focus.
Next, the Blood Drinker class was placed on hold due to insufficient data.
This left the two advanced classes, which likely had specific prerequisites. Using logical deduction akin to solving equations, Lyle began identifying the unknown elements.
Using logical reasoning, Lyle hypothesized the following class progression:
•Basic Warrior Class (Unknown) 15Lv → Mid-tier Warrior Class (Unknown) 10Lv → Cursed Knight 5Lv = 30Lv
•Basic Magic Class (Unknown) 15Lv → Mid-tier Magic Class (Unknown) 10Lv → Cursed Caster 5Lv = 30Lv
This summed up to:
60Lv + Valkyrie: Lancer (5Lv) + Blood Drinker (5Lv) + Cleric (10Lv) = 80Lv
It aligned perfectly with Shalltear's class structure, providing clarity.
Advanced-tier classes like Blood Monarch were likely exclusive to the Vampire race, further solidifying Shalltear's dominance.
As for the [Valkyrie] class, one common thread stood out: the Cleric class. Both Shalltear and Certain Death had clear ties to it.
Certain Death, the second known [Valkyrie], had a straightforward yet chaotic class structure:
Fighter (10Lv)
Berserker (10Lv)
Expert Fighter (10Lv)
Low-tier Valkyrie/Almighty (5Lv)
Weapon Specialist (7Lv)
Rogue (1Lv)
Assassin (5Lv)
Executioner (10Lv)
Cleric (10Lv)
High Cleric (10Lv)
Inquisitor (10Lv)
This gave her a total of 88 levels, placing her among the top-tier characters in the alternate world. However, her class structure was a chaotic mix.
Lyle's analysis left him invigorated. The next steps involved testing his theories, unlocking the potential of the [Valkyrie] class, and exploring its possibilities further.
The structure of professions formed by the three major series—Fighter, Rogue, and Faith-based Spellcasters—renders the overall strength of the Despair Players significantly weaker compared to players of the same level.
The unique class held by Despair Stars and Despair Abyss, [Lesser Valkyrie], can be understood as a degenerated version of the true Valkyrie.
This situation arises because Despair Stars and Despair Abyss fundamentally fail to meet the essential requirements of a true Valkyrie, resulting in a phenomenon unique to this otherworld—a flawed version of the class.
For example, advanced professions like [Ninja] require reaching level 60 or above to unlock in the game. However, in the otherworld, as long as someone learns the necessary skills beforehand, they can acquire these professions directly.
Special professions, however, are a completely different story. The prerequisites for such classes are extremely strict!
Lyle speculated that Despair Butterfly and Despair Abyss must have indirectly obtained their special profession through their innate talents. Yet, due to the stringent requirements for special professions, they could only unlock a lower-tier version of it.
As for Shalltear and Certain Death, both of them have the class [Cleric].
It was unsurprising for Antilene, being one of the divine kingdom's aces, to hold a Cleric class. However, Shalltear was an Undead!
She was unmistakably a vampiric undead, yet her class was incongruous—a divine [Cleric], and not even one at max level.
The only plausible reason for this anomaly—
Was to meet some specific conditions!
Lyle's eyes gleamed with sharp insight, excitement flickering on his face as he pressed his palms heavily against the ground. "I've figured you out, [Valkyrie]!"
The game YGGDRASIL was, in fact, based on Norse mythology.
The term "Valkyrie" didn't exist in early mythological concepts; they were initially referred to as "Valkyrja," meaning corpse-eaters, essentially a representation of malevolence.
Over time, the term evolved into "choosers of the slain"—divine female figures associated with selecting warriors who died in battle and taking them to Valhalla. The legendary Hall of the Slain thus became intrinsically linked to the Valkyries.
But enough about the mythology for now!
The prerequisites for unlocking the [Valkyrie] profession were likely:
Gender: Female, Base Class: [Cleric], Advanced Class: [Cursed Knight]!
Why [Cursed Knight] instead of [Cursed Caster]? Because [Valkyrie] is a combat-oriented profession, not a spellcasting one.
"Phew—"
Lyle dusted off his hands, exhaling deeply. He then lifted his foot, wiping away the seemingly random characters he'd scribbled on the ground.
Even though no one in this world could read those symbols, it was better to be cautious!
"An advanced class like [Cursed Knight], according to the game's rules, requires reaching level 60 or higher, in addition to fulfilling its pre-requisite class structure."
"However, in this otherworld, as long as someone learns the necessary skills first, they can unlock advanced professions directly."
Lyle propped his hands on his knees, stood up straight, and patted the dust off his pants. Smiling to himself, he muttered:
"If I remember correctly, there's someone in the Baharuth Empire whose class is [Cursed Knight]."
Understanding the conditions for unlocking a "special profession," Lyle didn't yet have full confirmation but felt he had enough to start testing his theory.
His heart calmed slightly.
"At least this 'Baharuth Empire' individual won't disappear anytime soon."
"So the first order of business is leveling up, then heading to the Baharuth Empire to unlock the [Cursed Knight] advanced profession."
With his goal clear, Lyle didn't hesitate. He turned and began walking toward the Adventurer's Guild.
