Chapter 14: Everyone's Surprise, the "Rock" Adventurer Team

Hearing a voice behind him, Nfirea turned his head in confusion.

The four adventurers standing nearby had already noticed Lyle's arrival, but at first, they assumed he was just passing by and paid him no mind.

To their surprise, Lyle walked straight toward them.

All four turned their gazes to Lyle, carefully observing him.

They had just accepted a commission, and while attacks on clients within the Adventurer's Guild were rare, maintaining vigilance was always necessary.

"Is it you?"

Nfirea's bright blue eyes widened in surprise as he looked at Lyle, clearly recognizing the person he had encountered earlier on the road.

After all, black hair was exceptionally rare and hard to forget.

"Thank you for the water flask," Lyle said with a soft smile.

"You don't have to be so polite. I'm glad I could help you," Nfirea replied, noticing the water flask hanging at Lyle's waist. Feeling slightly embarrassed, he scratched the back of his head.

Lyle nodded, then turned his attention to the four adventurers. "I overheard your conversation just now. You're heading to E-Rantel, right? Would it be possible for me to join you?"

The adventurers froze momentarily, surprised by the sudden request.

Nfirea hesitated. While he didn't mind, this was something that required his grandmother's approval.

The four adventurers, however, remained expressionless. Yet, their lack of reaction spoke volumes in itself.

Faced with their silence, Lyle seemed unfazed. He had already noticed that this four-person adventurer team had some functional imbalances.

"I realize my request might seem abrupt," Lyle continued. "But…" He paused briefly, raising his palm as he softly chanted, "Minor Healing."

A gentle white glow emerged from his hand, radiating warmth and comfort.

The previously impassive adventurers' eyes lit up simultaneously, their expressions now filled with surprise and curiosity as they stared at Lyle.

"A divine magic caster?" one of them murmured in astonishment.

Lyle's unexpected use of healing magic didn't just astonish the adventurers—it also drew the attention of many within the Adventurer's Guild hall.

In the world of Overlord and its alternate dimensions, professions were generally divided into two categories: warrior classes and magic casters.

Warrior classes included roles such as fighters, defenders, archers, and rogues.

Magic casters were further subdivided into arcane magic, divine magic, psychic magic, and other specialized types.

Among these, divine casters capable of healing were particularly rare and highly valued.

Adventuring was a dangerous profession. During missions, combat was almost inevitable.

Even minor injuries, if left untreated, could lead to death or permanent disability.

As a result, adventurers often carried healing potions despite their high cost, as they had no alternative.

Of course, having a team member who could cast healing magic was not only cost-effective but also significantly increased the team's survival rate.

However, divine casters were far less common than arcane casters.

In the context of the game mechanics, there was no functional difference between the two—they both consumed MP.

But in this world, where game systems had become reality, divine casters operated differently. Their abilities required intense focus and a strong spiritual connection.

Thus, divine casters were highly sought after by powerful adventurer teams. Weaker teams often didn't even have the privilege of extending an invitation.

Lyle seemed unfazed by the adventurers' astonished expressions. After finishing his spell, he drew the dagger hanging from his waist.

"I've also trained in swordsmanship," Lyle added with a calm voice, his fingers expertly twirling the blade. "I won't be a burden to you."

The dagger spun deftly in Lyle's palm, moving up and down with fluid precision, as though he had undergone specialized training.

In reality, before watching Royal Court Judgment, Lyle's movements with the dagger were clumsy. After all, in his previous life, he had no experience in combat training.

However!

After acquiring the Sword Saint profession, Lyle developed an inexplicable familiarity with sword-based weapons, as if he had been practicing for years.

The people present watched his skilled handling of the dagger, recognizing that Lyle had indeed mastered a certain level of combat techniques.

After finishing his demonstration, Lyle's fingers nimbly returned the dagger to his belt. He then looked towards Nfirea and the others.

In particular, seeing the astonished yet approving gazes of the four adventurers gave him a sense of relief. It seemed there were no issues with this adventurer team.

"That's amazing!"

Nfirea couldn't help but widen his bright blue eyes, staring at Lyle in surprise.

He hadn't expected that the person he helped—purely by chance—would turn out to be a Faith Magic Caster skilled in healing spells.

And, judging by the display, he had also mastered advanced swordsmanship!

"Is he a genius?" Nfirea thought, finding Lyle's abilities both surprising and impressive.

It seemed his grandmother was absolutely right: just like with medicinal herbs, you couldn't judge a book by its cover!

At this moment, the leader of the four adventurers, a blond-haired man, stepped forward.

The man appeared to be around twenty-four or twenty-five years old, with slightly curled facial hair along his mouth and chin that gave him a cheerful demeanor.

He wore light armor on his upper body, which left his lower half unprotected. Two long swords hung from his waist.

Lyle guessed this man likely held the Light Warrior profession.

"My name is Dosari. These three are my good friends and members of our adventurer party," Dosari said with a bright smile as he introduced himself.

"I'm Bask."

"I'm Lerr."

"Rand."

The other three introduced themselves one after another.

Lyle glanced at each of them. They all seemed to be around the same age. Although they didn't mention their professions, their equipment made it obvious.

This adventurer team not only lacked a healer but also didn't appear to have a magic caster among them.

Lerr and Rand looked strikingly similar, with identical pale gold hair. They were likely twins, each with a silver shield strapped to their arms.

The other member, Bask, was clearly an archer.

"Our adventurer team is called Rock. As the name suggests, we specialize in defensive combat," Dosari explained.

He not only introduced his team but also gave Lyle insight into their strengths and tactics. Interestingly, he displayed more enthusiasm toward Lyle than he did toward their client, Nfirea.

Lyle understood the reason behind this enthusiasm perfectly.

"My name is Lyle," he said with a slight nod, keeping his words brief.

"We don't have any issues on our side," Dosari said with a smile, glancing at Nfirea. Clearly, as long as their client agreed, they were ready to proceed.
