Chapter 15: Let’s Leave the Capital Together

Nfirea didn't hesitate, seeming quite intrigued by Lyle, who was only a few years older than him. "I need to discuss this with my grandmother first. Come with me."

With that, Nfirea turned and ran briskly toward the entrance of the Adventurers' Guild.

"Let's follow them. This is a good opportunity to meet the client," said Dosari, the leader of the Rock team, addressing his three teammates. Then, turning to Lyle with a hearty smile, he added, "Care to join us?"

Lyle gave a slight nod.

Dosari walked out of the hall side by side with Lyle, while the other three members followed closely, almost as if they were guarding him.

After Lyle had demonstrated his healing magic earlier, several adventurer teams had prepared themselves to act.

Now, with the Rock team making their move, many adventurer groups nearby cursed under their breath.

Meanwhile, back at the reception desk, a brown-haired girl named Daya gazed enviously at Lyle as he left with the Rock team. Her brown eyes showed a mix of admiration and sadness.

"Amazing. Who would have guessed from his appearance that he's a divine magic caster? If only he…"

She muttered to herself, but as more adventurers approached the desk, she quickly replaced her expression with a professional smile.

Outside the Adventurers' Guild.

A cart loaded with goods was parked outside. The battered wooden pallets on the cart were stacked with various items. At the bottom were wooden crates of different sizes, covered with a layer of straw-like dried plants.

As they neared the cart, a pungent, almost overwhelming herbal scent filled the air.

Seated at the front of the cart was an elderly woman holding a whip. Her head was wrapped in a light green scarf. She was none other than Nfirea's grandmother, Lizzie.

Lyle and the Rock team paused near the cart. Nfirea was speaking animatedly to his grandmother, recounting what had just happened in the Adventurers' Guild.

They waited quietly, standing behind the cart. It didn't take long for Nfirea to return, looking quite pleased.

"Grandma agreed. Lyle, you can come with us," Nfirea said with a smile. "But she wants to see your healing magic one more time."

"No problem," Lyle replied softly.

Compared to joining a caravan or adventurer group to travel to E-Rantel, following Nfirea and Lizzie, who knew the area well, felt much safer.

Moreover, Lizzie was a Tier 3 magic caster!

Lyle followed Nfirea to where Lizzie was sitting.

Lizzie's deeply wrinkled face, framed by her white hair, gave her a very aged appearance. Her expression was cold, and her slightly prominent jawbones made her seem difficult to approach.

However, anyone who could raise someone as gentle as Nfirea couldn't have too harsh a personality.

"Where are you from? In this kingdom, black hair and dark brown eyes are quite rare," Lizzie asked with a neutral expression.

The question caught Lyle off guard. It was difficult to answer.

"Never mind, it's a minor issue. Just use your healing magic on my horse," Lizzie said, her sharp eyes narrowing slightly as she pointed to the black horse pulling the cart.

The horse looked old and worn out. Years of pulling the cart had left visible depressions on its back and neck. Its hindquarters were missing patches of hair, exposing red marks on its skin.

"Of course," Lyle said simply.

He raised his palm toward the horse and cast, "Minor Healing."

Immediately, a significant portion of his mana drained away.

A gentle white light enveloped the horse, healing the red marks on its hindquarters until they vanished completely.

The horse snorted, shaking its head, as if to express its relief.

Lyle let out a small sigh of relief.

Though he didn't feel physically tired, his mana was almost entirely depleted.

The Tier 1 spell "Minor Healing" consumed 5 mana points. Considering that he had already used it twice before, Lyle's current mana pool of 13 points was nearly exhausted.

He glanced at his status panel and noted that his mana hadn't regenerated even a single point since he first used the spell.

The recovery rate of mana was much slower than Lyle had anticipated. It might also be due to his lack of a proper magical class.

While his "Genius" class allowed him to transition into any basic class, it evidently didn't provide the stat bonuses or additional effects that other classes might offer.

"Not bad," Lizzie said, a faint smile appearing on her wrinkled face. "With this, we can speed up our return to E-Rantel. Let's set off."

Lizzie paid no further attention to Lyle and called out to Nfirea, who had climbed onto the cart to sit beside her.

With the sound of a whip cracking and the creak of wooden wheels against the stone pavement, the cart began to move.

Lyle and the Rock team had no choice but to walk behind the cart, clearly not invited to ride.

Fortunately, the cart was heavily loaded and moved slowly.

On the second day after crossing the river, Lyle left the capital behind.

The Kingdom of Re-Estize consisted mostly of plains, with its northern and western borders adjoining the sea, home to two major port cities.

The kingdom's population was predominantly human, with very few demi-humans. This was largely due to the strong anti-nonhuman sentiments among its people.

In recent years, the southern Slane Theocracy and the Elven Kingdom further south had been at war, leading to forest elves occasionally being sold to Re-Estize and Baharuth.

The price of an ordinary forest elf was around 300 gold coins, while skilled forest elves could fetch prices exceeding 1,000 gold coins, sold as "living magic tools."

Three days had passed since leaving the capital. During this time, Lyle learned much about the world from the Rock team members, who seemed eager to build rapport with him.

The journey was uneventful, likely due to being near the kingdom's center.

Lyle also began to understand why Lizzie, a Tier 3 magic caster, would hire adventurers. It was because they acted as laborers!

The cart carrying herbal goods needed to be unloaded and dried daily. The physical labor was delegated to the Rock team, a task their leader, Dosari, often complained about to Lyle.

As for Lyle, he wasn't entirely idle either. He frequently used healing magic on the horses, not only to treat whip-induced injuries but also to restore some of their energy, as Lizzie explained.

This highlighted the differences between the skills in his status panel and their applications in this world.

Through continuous use of magic, Lyle observed that his mana regenerated at a rate of approximately 1 point per hour.

He also realized that his "Genius" class, while versatile, didn't grant the inherent benefits of traditional magical classes.
