Emma got herself back when he said that, "Oh, ummm… thank you." She managed to say. "But you really did not need to do that, I mean now you are all wet." She continued.
"Well I really don't mind, and the most important thing is that you got your phone back." He said.
"Yeahhh… I really doubt that." Emma said as she held her phone up. "I don't think this phone will work again." She laughed.
He laughed with her, "Yeah I think you might be right."
"I am sorry but I think your whole heroic gesture was for nothing." She smiled.
"I don't think it was for nothing, I am sure it will count for something." He smiled.
"Yeah, I do appreciate anyway." she said.
"The pleasure is mine. And I am Oliver by the way."
"I am Emma." She said sitting back down.
"Nice to meet you Emma."
To Emma, the whole scene that just happen now was beyond normal but it has passed and now she had to get a new phone.
Oliver sat next to Emma and she started to wonder why, she appreciated his effort in trying to save her phone but she was not planning on having a conversation with anyone but she did not want to be rude.
"You don't strike me as someone that comes to this kind of things." Trevor said.
"Well then, who do I strike you as?"
"I don't want to assume more so I will stop there." He replied.
Emma was impressed with his reply, most people would be quick to describe someone without even knowing them, he was being careful.
"Well you could say that I was forced to come by a friend." She said.
"Since you are here already, why don't you just have fun?"
"Well I am not used to having fun in this kind of place and my friend is nowhere to be found so I am alone, which is typical and somewhat sad.
"You do know before coming to a party like this, you should get a little big drunk or high so that when you come and end up alone, you can still have fun by yourself." He said.
"I won't need to keep that in mind because I won't be coming to this kind of party anyway." Emma looked at her watch, "And… I will need to go now, I have an important work event I have to attend tomorrow."
"Oh, alright then. Well that was short." He said.
"Yeah, I am sorry about that." Emma stood up hurriedly. "Shit, I have to tell Sophie that I will be going but with my phone gone and her being nowhere to be found I won't be able to reach her.
"Wait, your friend, the one that supposedly forced you to come here is Sophie, the one that organized the party." Oliver said.
"Yeah that's her."
"Well that is definitely interesting."
"How is that interesting?" She asked.
"Sorry I mean, I am not going anytime soon and I also know Sophie. So eventually I will see her and I will tell her that you left." She said.
"You would do that, well I will be really grateful."
"It's not a problem."
"Alright, thank you." Emma turned and started to walk away in a fast pace.
"It was nice meeting you Emma!" Oliver yelled because she was already far from him.
Emma quickly left the house and now she was outside close to the road, it was already late so she hoped that she will see a taxi. Then without taking much time, a taxi showed up and she stopped it.
She entered the taxi and the taxi began to move. As they drove, she gave the taxi driver directions.
After a while, she arrived at her apartment building, she came out of the taxi and paid the driver. The taxi drove off and Emma went on into the apartment building.
She got to her apartment then slowly she brought out her keys and used it to open the door.
She was inside her apartment and that was when the whole stress hit her, with the whole day she had at work and at the party made her feel tired.
She moved to her room sluggishly and when she entered, she threw the bag she was holding on the floor and fell on her bed. After few minutes she slept off.
It was morning and Emma was still sleeping, she was too tired to set her alarm last night. Then someone started to knock on her front door, but the knock did not wake her up, she kept on sleeping. The knock kept on going for a while and finally she woke up.
She was on her bed, she lifted her head trying figure out what the sound she was hearing was. It did not take her time to realize that it was a knock coming from the front door.
She started to wonder who it was, so she slowly stood up from her bed and left her room. She reached the front door and she was still sleepy, she has not gotten herself yet.
"Who is it?" She asked.
"Ummm… it Tommy." The person at the other side of the door said.
"Tommy? What is he doing here?" She said to herself as she opened the door.
She opened the door completely, "What are you doing here tommy?" She asked still feeling sleepy.
Tommy was surprised, he was not sure what was going on but he was also relieved. She was looking tired, her hair was messy and the little makeup she wore was no longer there and he also noticed that she was still on the clothes she wore to work yesterday.
"Uhmmm… I was meant to pick you up so that we can go for the work event today." Tommy managed to say.
After he said that, she got herself, she no longer felt sleepy, "Oh shit!" She placed her hand on her head understanding the whole situation.
"I slept off last night so I didn't set my alarm, I must have been really tired last night." She said.
"I tried calling you so many time this morning when I got to your apartment building but I couldn't get you. I got worried but then I remembered the party you said you would go to so I called your best friend and she told me that you left the party last night. Tommy said.
"Yeah I guess I lost my phone yesterday." Emma remembered.
"How did that happen?" Tommy was curious, not only because of her phone but why she was like this.
"Wait, what time is it? Are we late for the event?" She asked.
"No, not really, there is still some time before the event starts, I came really early."
"Oh." She gave a sigh of relieved.
"So what's up? Are you okay?" Tommy asked.
"Yeah I am, no need to worry." She assured him. "Why don't you come in and wait for me, I need to go take a shower and prepare for the event.
