The sun beamed through the lavish windows of the Jones mansion, casting a warm glow across the room where two esteemed families gathered to discuss a joyous occasion—the engagement of their children. Mr. and Mrs. Jones warmly welcomed Mr. and Mrs. Smith into their home, setting the stage for an important and heartfelt conversation.
Amy, the poised eldest daughter of the Jones Family, and Harry, the dashing eldest son of the Smith Family, had been keeping their affectionate bond under wraps for nearly two years. Their clandestine romance, discovered by their families, brought a mix of surprise and delight. Fortunately, the long-standing friendship between the families alleviated any concerns, turning the discovery into a source of immense happiness.
Yet, amidst the discussions, it was Erica and Amelia, the respective mothers of Amy and Harry, who seemed most jubilant. Their dreams of becoming family were on the brink of realization, although they couldn't resist scolding the young couple for their secrecy. Still, their admonishment was wrapped in the excitement of soon becoming parents-in-law.
However, amidst the joyous chatter, Evelyn, a less vocal member of the gathering, expressed her disapproval of Amy and Harry's penchant for sneaking around. Her viewpoint ignited a spark of irritation among both families, except for Aaron, Harry, and Olivia. Evelyn, accustomed to bearing undue blame from her parents since childhood, yearned for affection, yet found herself at odds with their expectations.
Erica and Amelia, irritated by Evelyn's interruption, hastily dismissed her to her room, unaware that she lingered nearby, eavesdropping on their conversation. Taking advantage of the absence of the younger ones, they began discussing Evelyn's behaviour, unaware that their hurtful words were overheard.
Meanwhile, Edward, preoccupied with a business call, concluded his conversation with a tinge of disappointment. As he ventured back indoors, he crossed paths with Evelyn, who, with tear-filled eyes, collided with him. Initially poised to express his frustration, Edward found himself inexplicably moved by Evelyn's distress. Before he could inquire, Evelyn hastily retreated to her room, leaving Edward puzzled by his newfound concern for her.
Unbeknownst to Edward, his sister's distress gnawed at him. Compelled to understand this emotional shift, he pushed aside his confusion and joined the rest of the family in the living room. Simultaneously, Harry, Amy, and the other Jones and Smith siblings returned from the Greenhouse, unaware of the underlying tensions brewing within the mansion.
That’s it for now…
