Night fell quickly, and most of the Knights of Favonius guards yawned as they headed home.
Jean, exhausted after a long day, staggered out of the Acting Grand Master's office.
Of course, Jean wasn't planning to go home. She was just looking for some hot water, as it seemed she had run out while making coffee.
Famas hid in a corner, watching Jean's tired face, and suddenly felt a pang of guilt. Would causing trouble now make Jean's already heavy workload even worse?
Actions speak louder than words.
Taking advantage of Jean's absence to fetch hot water, Famas moved quietly through the darkness, heading toward the confinement room.
Inside the confinement room, Klee was already lying on her bed, hugging her stuffed toy and snoring softly.
Seeing Klee like this, Famas didn't really want to disturb her.
But the urgent matter at hand was to regain his original strength as quickly as possible, so even if he didn't want to, he had to wake Klee.
Unless he was willing to quietly take Klee's Vision.
But if Klee found out…
Famas quietly approached the sleeping Klee and gently shook her, then couldn't resist pinching her little cheek.
"Huh?!" Feeling the pressure on her face, Klee suddenly opened her eyes.
Then she realized someone was touching her face.
"Ah!"
Klee instinctively tried to scream, but Famas was quick and covered her mouth, preventing her from making any noise. However, Famas had miscalculated. Even though Klee was startled, her hand instinctively reached for her backpack. Soon, she pulled out a round stuffed toy.
The moment Famas saw the toy, a hint of disdain flashed in his eyes.
He had never seen it before, but he knew it was one of Klee's bombs.
But who was Famas? The Pyro Archon, the only god of fire in Natlan before the rebellion. All Pyro energy was under his control. Making Klee's bomb ineffective should have been a piece of cake… or so he thought.
Boom!
With a loud explosion, just as Famas was about to use his divine power, the bomb instantly detonated. While it wasn't particularly lethal, the humiliation was immense.
"Why… did it explode?"
As the black smoke cleared, Klee and Famas were revealed, protected by a Pyro shield.
The two were unharmed, but the tables, chairs, teapot, bathroom, and even the specially designed little bed in the confinement room were all blown to pieces. Even the door, made of Starsilver collected from Dragonspine, was shattered by the bomb.
"Who is it?! What happened?"
Jean, who had just returned with hot water and was handling paperwork in her office with endless fatigue, was jolted awake by the explosion.
The flames from the explosion not only blew apart the iron door but also ignited the wooden walls around the confinement room.
Crash!
The burning wooden wall could no longer support the weight of the structure and snapped. The unsupported flower shelf fell headfirst to the floor.
But that wasn't all. The fallen flower shelf was still burning, setting the entire floor on fire.
Jean slammed open the confinement room door and was greeted by a sight she would never forget.
On one side was Famas, holding Klee and preparing to make a quick escape. On the other side was the Knights of Favonius hall, engulfed in flames!
"The Knights… Mondstadt's Knights… Famas…"
With a thud, it was Jean who collapsed this time.
Due to severe lack of rest and repeated shocks, our hardworking, respectable, and beloved Acting Grand Master Jean finally fainted.
"Things seem to have gotten out of hand."
Famas didn't have time to catch Jean and could only suck in a cold breath.
Another door opened. It was Lisa, who had been guarding the library, followed by Amber and Cavalry Captain Kaeya, who had been staying in the second-floor dormitory.
After hearing the explosion in the Knights of Favonius hall, Lisa had no choice but to temporarily leave her post to see what had happened. Then she saw the raging fire, Jean lying unconscious on the floor, and the sneaky Klee and Famas.
"Oh my, it seems our guest and Klee have managed to anger our dear Acting Grand Master to the point of fainting?"
Lisa, never one to shy away from stirring the pot, spoke in a gentle tone, saying the words Famas and Klee least wanted to hear.
"Hey, Cavalry Captain, you're the only one here who can put out the fire. What are you waiting for?" Lisa then turned her dangerous gaze toward Amber and Kaeya, who were trapped on the second floor by the flames.
"Freeze."
Hearing Lisa's words, Kaeya shivered, as if recalling the torment of forgetting to return a book to her. He immediately used his ice powers to start extinguishing the fire in the Knights of Favonius hall.
Famas also tried to control the flames in the hall, slowly extinguishing them.
With their combined efforts, the flames gradually died down. Lisa turned to Amber, who had barely escaped the fire, and said, "Amber, go to the church and call Barbara to help put out the fire. Also, have her check on Jean's condition…"
Before Lisa could finish, Amber quickly ran toward the Favonius Cathedral.
If she didn't call Barbara now, the entire Knights of Favonius hall might really burn to the ground.
Although Famas wouldn't let that happen.
Barbara, the deaconess and a Hydro Vision holder, quickly arrived at the Knights of Favonius hall.
After everyone worked together to put out the fire, Barbara began healing the injured.
While using her Hydro abilities to repair Amber's singed skin, Barbara glanced at the two figures in the center of the now-extinguished hall.
"So, did you two have a fight with Acting Grand Master Jean?"
Kaeya looked at Klee, who had stars in her eyes.
Seeing the Knights of Favonius hall, now half-charred, Klee's eyes were filled with excitement. Setting off a bomb in the Knights of Favonius hall had once been her dream, and now that dream had been exceeded, all thanks to Famas, who had been holding her.
"Thank you! Big brother Famas, playing with bombs with Klee is the best!"
As she spoke, Klee kept rubbing against Famas.
Amber, Kaeya, and Barbara, who was checking Jean's condition, all turned their gazes toward the flustered Famas.
"It's not me, I really didn't…"
Famas was at a loss for words.
"Klee! And Famas! Both of you, go to confinement!!"
Just as everyone was watching Famas desperately trying to explain himself, Jean suddenly sat up from the floor, seemingly awakened by Barbara's healing magic, and shouted at Klee and Famas before fainting again, collapsing into Barbara's arms.
Everyone exchanged glances, but only Jean, lying unconscious, had a faint smile on her lips.
"Finally, I can get some proper sleep."
