End Of The Battle

"Cindralic Morphis"

BOOM!

The flaming bullet tore through the leader's neck, spilling forth a fountain of blood.

'Oh? He's not Herald ranked.'

If he was, the bullet wouldn't have inflicted so much damage.

Which meant he was the same rank as Mikhail.

Unfortunately, he still wasn't dead despite the critical shot.

But first, he needed to get done with the beasts and the other mages.

'Let me disable him.'

Click. Cluck.

BOOM! BOOM!

A bloody scream escaped the leader's mouth as Mikhail shot him two times in the feet.

His dying body crashed on the ground but Mikhail had already moved ahead.

"Control it! What's happening!?" Mikhail heard the members shouting.

It was all chaos now as hordes of smaller monsters came rushing after them.

What Mikhail had done back there was simple.

With the holes shrinking, the size of the monsters able to shift through the gates had grown smaller as well.

The previous mammoth sized monsters weren't able to cross into the real world anymore.

With the focus of the whole group on him, Mikhail assured them that they were unable to realize this fact.

They were just controlling the monsters that came out with instinct.

This was confirmed to Mikhail when he ran an eye over the group.

He saw three of the members just moving their hands in a pattern within the robe, their focus on him.

When he shot at one of the members, it was never his point to injure them.

No.

He already knew that the controllers and disrupters had the artifact robes.

The bullet he shot there served two purposes.

One was to momentarily break the control of the tamers over the incoming monsters with the impact.

Which he was able to when it striked their robes, disrupting their control.

And the second purpose was to divert the uncontrolled monsters toward him.

Which he did when that reflected bullet went striking back among the monsters.

His aim made it sure that it would hit the new monsters coming from the gate.

That hit not only enraged the monsters to come running towards him, mistaking the group as the attackers.

But also if the controllers were to notice them, it would be impossible to take them under control.

The more enraged the monster, the harder it was to control it. It was a simple rule that everyone knew.

Fortunately for Mikhail though, the stealthy nature of the beasts didn't allow the group to sense them.

Mikhail knew the beasts.

Milton Raptors.

Their body was almost a mix of raptors and leopards, combining both speed and stealth.

Their prideful and hot temper made it so that whenever they would see a foe, they would attack the strongest of the group.

Which in Mikhail's case, was the leader of the group at that time.

The robe didn't protect the person from physical damage, Mikhail had already confirmed that.

'I need to keep using spells or the gates will start opening again.'

Fortunately, now the leader was out of the fray.

So there was complete disarray in the group.

"Norvalis Morphis"

Silencing his footsteps, Mikhail blended in with the now ensuing chaos of monsters.

'The raptors won't attack me for now. I'm too weak for them to consider me as their prey.'

His previous life knowledge from the battlefield was coming to work now.

"Aqualis Boltium."

'No you don't.'

"Cindralic Morphis."

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Mikhail countered their spells with his own, protecting the monsters.

Right now, his safest bet to survive this was with their help.

Without them, he was still too weak to handle them all, even with their leader gone.

Reaching a member near him, Mikhail raised his gun to his head.

"Aqualis Morphis."

BOOM! SPLASH!

A fountain of blood sprung forth, splashing on him.

Ignoring, Mikhail spun on his heel to move to the next member when a crunching pain hit his back.

Gritting his teeth to bear through the teeth, he moved on his torso.

BOOM! BOOM!

Putting two shots straight to the head of the raptor, he fell to the ground, panting heavily.

"Huff….Huff…." He saw his vision blur, almost falling unconscious but the urgency of the situation kept him going.

'I can't hold on for long.'

Running a hazy eye over the battlefield, he saw the controllers nowhere to be found.

They were controlling some of the beasts from somewhere.

'Shit, I can't make sense of who's controlled or not.'

It would be a problem if he attacked the uncontrolled ones, bringing even more fight to himself.

He quickly checked his mana, only to find it down to 900.

There was no point in choosing his enemies now.

His mana was only left to close the gates. It didn't matter whom he shot, he just needed to close the remaining gates.

Biting his lip to keep himself conscious, Mikhail tried to rise to his feet.

Crunch. Drip.

His body condition was a total mess right now. Broken bones, ribs and blood loss.

And now he was about to go on a spell overload.

'Whatever, not the first time this will happen.'

Click. Cluck. Click. Cluck.

Raising his guns, he took aim straight at a member in the distance, who was already occupied with 3 raptors.

"Norvalis Morphis"

Ting.

The sound was completely suppressed to a ting as the bullet split through the member's head.

As his lifeless body fell down, Mikhail saw the raptors pounce upon him.

"..!"

His instincts screamed for him to dive to the right.

And he did, ignoring the gut-wrenching pain that came with it in the process.

His eyes moved to the back where he saw 3 raptors slash through the air where he stood before.

He took aim with his guns once more.

"Cindralic Hurialis."

"Cindralic Morphis."

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Mikhail's shots split through the brains of every raptor caught in the crimson vortex

"Argh!!"

He crashed on the ground as he tried to stand up again, blood dripping on the floor from his wounds and mouth.

He smashed his fist on the ground, anger coming over him for the first time.

'Fuck this body. Stand up!'

"..!"

Rolling over the ground, he quickly pointed his guns to the back.

"Norvalis Boltium."

A barrage of smoke bullets cut through their bodies, sending them crashing on the ground.

"Huff…Huff…"

The side-effects of mana overload were hitting him now.

With one eye open only now, Mikhail gazed over at the gates.

It was no larger than a small hole now.

No monster was able to come out from a hole of that size.

But the work still wasn't done, he needed to close them completely or those disruptors would open them again.

'I can't be bothered to find those controllers right now.'

Forcing himself up on his knees, he ran a quick look over the battlefield, his eye searching for any shine of gold.

And there it was.

In the distance, he found it. Right behind the trees.

'I'll finish this in one last attack.'

That was all he could muster now.

Scraping his knees on the ground, Mikhail pushed his feet against the dirt, propelling himself forward for one last charge.

Skrrt! Swoosh!

As he ran through the area, he loaded his guns for one last shot.

One last barrage of spells.

Unfortunately, the controllers were quick to realize his direction.

GROWL!

Mikhail heard 3 monstrous cries from right behind him.

'Fuck!'

Bending his ankle, he quickly changed his direction mid-charge.

Crack!

The sudden twist sent a streak of pain through his ankle, breaking it.

But it was too late to stop for another second now.

Raising his bloody hand for one last time in the air, he performed the symbols.

'Cindralis.'

First node.

'Fumivex.'

Second node.

'Spinora.'

Third node.

And complete.

"Cindralic Hurialis."

With the highest amount of mana he could put, Mikhail pushed the spell forward.

SWOOOSH!

And it worked as a gigantic hurricane of fire sprung forth, devouring everything within it.

Mikhail saw the disruptors quickly try to escape its grasp but unfortunately, it was too late.

They were thrown right in with the pack of raptors.

Crashing on the ground with his world spinning now, Mikhail forced his single eye up to the hurricane.

There was one single reason why he had used Hurrialis despite its high mana consumption.

It was to throw their hoods off, providing a clean look on who they were.

And to provide a clean target for him to aim at.

SWOOSH!

Just like he expected, the scorching winds sent their hoods whipping back, revealing their faces.

Mikhail's eye widened with realization.

'Ah…'

'I should have suspected it from the start.'

Right before him, in the hurricane were the same new guards he saw at the gate on his first day.

'No wonder the academy security system didn't pick them up.'

Regardless…

It didn't change his motive.

Click....Clunk.

Mikhail loaded his gun with the last bullet he had.

'Fuck, I'm losing conciousness….'

His vision spun, making his aim harder.

But…

'That would be the last thing stopping me from putting a bullet in their head.'

These guns were an extension of his body. Shooting was as natural to him as breathing.

Raising his gun as he laid on the ground, Mikhail took aim once more.

Not at their heads but at a certain point in the hurricane.

Step. Step. Step.

He could hear footsteps coming from behind.

But his form or focus didn't waver.

And after a few seconds, as soon as their heads aligned with his predicted aim, the spell canceled automatically.

"Cindralic Morphis."

It was the last spell he could use.

BOOM! BOOM!
