Chapter 76:

I feel it the second I step into the hall—the simmering rage. Aries... I think, and the fury is there, a pulse of heat beneath my skin, an angry storm ready to break.

"Did you see the way he talked to us?" he snaps in my head, voice seething with venom. "I told you—this is why I hate Lycans. They think they are better than wolves, just because they're bigger, stronger. They don't know their place. They never will. They think that power is all they need. But surprise, motherfucker. I am Aries. I have more power than the council combined. I'm bigger, I'm better. Let them think what they want. I don't give a shit."

His words are sharp, bitter, a jagged edge I can feel down to my core. It's so strong, so full of contempt, that it almost feels like a physical blow.

I brace myself, pressing my palm against the wall as I make my way down the hallway.

"Calm down," I tell him gently, my voice soft but firm.
